Gemmill 44257
The whole 'it was too good to refuse'' line is bullshit! He is a billionaire, its not like we had to sell to keep the shareholders happy. Pure greed on ashleys behalf. Don't be stupid man!!! £35 million quid for Andy Carroll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Too good to refuse" only stands up as an argument that's palatable to the fans if it means the owner thinks we will be better off as a team in the long run by cashing in. We all know this money is getting trousered. No one follows the club for the joy of printing out the annual accounts and marvelling at the bottom line. We have been permanently worsened by this sale. wykikitoon 19861
Also, look at the way that Blackpool, Wigan and Everton were able to turn down bids for their players. Fatty dropped his trousers like a whore at the sign of cash. Blackpool accepted an £7.5m bid for Adam but didnt get the signiture of the boards quick enough. Thats from 'Arry Redknapp. Come on Holloway you carrot crunching cock, say something bad about 'Arry and how they are ripping you off at £7.5m for him! Barney 0
Not only should we be reinvesting the £35m, we should be doing what Pool have done and adding to it. I don't see Fatty spending £50m.
Guest alex
I don't understand people like Toonpack tbh. I've never seen him make a post about football, unless it's American 'football', yet he's backed Ashley from day one re: off the field stuff. I can't really make a correlation between his views and 'supporting' this club. I wonder why people like that actually follow football. OTF 7243
It's just a shame we've got 30 points which will be just enough. The only hope for this club is another relegation or a helicopter crash. Nothing is set in stone. The big teams are dropping more points which means there's more on offer for the lower ranked sides. There's not that many points between us and the drop zone. I don't think we'll be in danger, but if the wheels do fall off and heads drop a couple of wins for a few of the bottom sides and we'll be looking over our shoulders... Look, I didn't want him to go but the offer was madness. He's miles from the finished article and his temprament in suspect, to say the least. Huge risk by Liverpool as they're paying absolute top "superstar" whack for "potential" with serious flaws off the pitch.

For all that the bottom 3 are averaging less than a point a game iirc. We're probably 2 wins from absolute safety (assuming we'll pick up at least a draw or 3 along the way). OTF 7243
...as for people thinking that Ashley is going to reinvest the money what the fuck will it take for you to realise that it's not going to happen? Where's the money from Milner? Martins? Bassong? He's going to buy cheap and ultimately poor players who will barely (if at all) improve the team. He's a fucking cunt and he doesn't give a fuck about anyone with a genuine interest in the side, least of all the supporters who he has treated with absolute contempt on numerous occasions. Asprilla 96
Selling Carroll for £35M is a good deal on our behalf. But it only wipes out the debt caused by (Ashley's) relegation. We're no better off financially and we're one amazing, free, young, local, England capped striker down....
JonGoodwyn 1
Gutted he's gone - was really looking forward to seeing what he would achieve with us I'm also getting fed up with football in general - it's really deflating to know that even if things start going well it's only a matter of time before Ashley'll do something to fuck it all up again. It's happened regular as clockwork for a long time.

The whole thing just sums up why the game is shite now and why me interest has been waning for so long. It's also a kick in the stotts after allowing myself to get a bit excited about the team again over the last season and a half after what happened prior to that. Who'll come here who is as good on a wage ceiling of c. £30k? If it was Spurs in this boat there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that it would be massively good for them in the long term - because of their current status, their scouting network and their recent record. Using the same criteria I've no doubt this'll be bad for our team. On top of the effect it'll have on the likes of Barton, Enrique, Colocinni, etc. And if you're going to keep banging the 'wait until the summer' drum, perhaps you'd like to provide us with some evidence that'll back up the inferred claim that there's reason to be optimistic. Because it seems incredibly naive to me.
