We've sent him to Liverpool to see a specialist. Expect a prognosis back in 5 and a half years.

Don't think Ireland is fit so cant see him playing a part therefore we'll foreseeably be starting with the same lineup we did against Tottenham, though there is a concern about Guthrie fitness as well I think.

I suppose the Carroll saga is being discussed in at least a dozen places at the moment but I'll just have my rant here, where the frick do we go now? I know the offer was too good to refuse and he'd put in a request and all that but we're still utterly screwed aren't we? And we all know the chances of that fat arse reinvesting the money in the summer even if we do stay up.

A really promising season with Hughton at the helm, the brightest young striker in the league, and some other positives to take from the team, seems to be going down relegation fight road. Feeling utterly downcast, really pissed at AC, hope he has a worse time at Liverpool than Torres.

Im still going to find a way to blame Ashley  How many people think Hughton's departure and the generally accepted fact that we are going nowhere under Ashley had something to do with Carroll's transfer request?

Carroll's transfer request was merely a formality in his departure. Don't be blinded into thinking a transfer request from Carroll obligated the club to sell him. That's not the way it works. It's much more likely that the club pressured Carroll into submitting a transfer request as it will have negated any loyalty payments that Carroll may have been due as part of his existing contract with us (if he was sold without the transfer request these would have had to be paid to Carroll by Ashley on his departure). The double benefit to the club was that they could hope that people would think that Carroll did legitimately put in a transfer request because he wanted to go somewhat limiting the blame some people would assign to them. This is not the case, so don't for a second buy into the nonsense.

You're probably right, my point was, even if this not the case, can anybody really blame him for putting in the request considering how Ashley treated Hughton after the club seemed to be going places under him and that all the players stood by him? Why would a future England No.1 striker want to be at a club thats going nowhere.

After the events of yesterday I couldn't really give a fuck about this game, needed at least 2 new players in and ended up loosing another 2. Just hope the players can lift themselves for it. Will be interesting to hear what Pardew has to say.

We have a strong enough team to beat these lot.

this lot who just beat Spurs 4-0?

when i got my ticket before Christmas i thought we did, now I don't. Murphy seems to be back on form and what he will do to a Tiote free midfield is scary.

I'm going to be at this match. Got seats in the 'neutral' end. I can see us winning. The lads will rally against all the off field crap just like they did after hughton was sacked. Shola brace, victory for the mags.

Pissed off about yesterday but still looking forward to this.

The fact that AC hasnt been in the team of late and they have still played well gives me hope that we can still win games.

Really depends how the team feel about yesterday.

I think we'll be alright this season. However a big part of the reason we've done well without Tiote and Carroll is that we were already playing quite well, have a lot of points on the board already and are benefitting from the confidence that comes with that. Carroll is a big part of that and the reason I'm worried about next season (and the foreseeable future) already.

I woke up this morning and had a few moments where I thought I'd imagined the whole thing.

Im trying to be logical and positive about it and thinking it happens at every club whether it is spurs losing Berbatov, Man u losing Ronaldo and Teves or Liverpool losing Torres.

Still hurts when its your club though.

The unknown is whether we are just part of the big merry go round like the clubs ive already mentioned or whether this marks a return to 1980's style sell offs.

it hurts even more when the best replacement strikers on your books are ameobi, best and ranger.

Time for Shola The Goala to step up take his crown as the new Prince of the Toon. :D

In all seriousness he has played really well the past 1.5 seasons when fully fit.

26 starts -18 goals

Even if you count appearances its still pretty good.

41 apps - 18 goals.

You cant really argue with that.
