Are Newcastle a Big Club?

I think we can put this one to bed now, don't you? Bring a young kid through the system, young kid comes good, picks up England cap and looks like the real deal. Sell him in literally the first open transfer window that comes along. And we all KNOW we aren't gonna replace him with a player as good, never mind better.

Are we fuck a big club.

We should be. But we just aren't.

spot on. we are a big joke.

Talking about Carroll last week Pardew said ‘We have to have a big-club mentality and hold on to our best players’. Guess he doesn’t think we're a big club.

It's not about anyone thinking it....it's not a metaphysical concept of ambition.....it's about paying the wages to prove it.

Ashley's said we won't pay those wages.

This little ditty stolen shamelessly from NUFC.com sums it up to me.

It's worth noting that Liverpool currently sit just two points ahead of us, having played one more game. They are currently managed by a failed ex-Newcastle manager who trawled the world to bring us Andreas Andersson, Stephane Guivarc'h and George Georgiadis....

The Reds currently occupy a smaller ground than us and are watched by smaller average crowds. Big club, my arse, as a well-known Scouser might say. Perhaps they just have more ambitious owners, who did due diligence...

The annoying thing is it's not like it's a big risk for the scousers. You hope when a club spends daft money like this it'll fuck them over when they don't reach the champions league. But his wages will still be lower than Torres, and they're not tyhat much out of pocket for the day.

I totally agree with this.

When you sell your best young player to your competitor at the first opportunity, you aren't a big club. When we sold Andy Cole we went out and bought Shearer. This time round people are talking about Dean Sturridge, ffs.

It was Ferdinand rather than Shearer but I get your point.

What I would wonder though...is why the Carroll (£35m) transfer is the top headline...above the £50m Torres deal?

:jesuswept:

Probably because it's screwed the headline writers over. They all expected Liverpool to end up with egg on their faces as a result of Torres handing in a transfer and them effectively being in the same state only with Suarez instead of Torres.

Instead it's us looking fucking amateur.
