Tbf there'll be no one sicker about this than Leazes. Get fucked man he'll be gloating about it for months. "Are you learning yet lad". He thinks Ashley fucking up makes Shepherd great, his very basic logic will conclude nothing else. Notwithstanding whatever anyone thinks about Shepherd..........we are a selling club, and we do lack ambition. I think this transfer window proves that and I expect that most of the Carroll money will disappear into fatty's pocket. Not really fair to say we are a selling club. 35m is crazy money. More to the point we are not a buying club!
Anorthernsoul 1221
Fucking shite state of affairs now. Our best bet is playing Nolan as a striker now, at least he can score. That hat trick against west ham is the worst thing best could have done in hindsight as Pardew might have realised how gash he is and got someone else before now. As for bidding for Zoggy, that's just fucking mental. Think fucking cunts The worst thing about it being the fact that we went in with 12 after the first was rejected, madness

So we massively weaken our first team at the worst possible time simply because we get a great offer for him. I don't have a problem with selling him as everyone has their price and I agree it's crazy money....but not reinvesting straightaway in a top notch replacement says selling club to me. I think this transfer window proves that and I expect that most of the Carroll money will disappear into fatty's pocket. If we were a selling club, we'd have taken £12 million for him tbf. The fact that we've gotten that much for a relatively unproven player.. I don't think many 'non-selling' clubs would have rejected that bid. That's the considered view of it, even though it hurts like hell, and I hate the way the whole PR side of it has been handled, but realistically selling an academy player for 35 mill doesn't make us a selling club. Don't get me wrong, I hate Ashley but we will only be a selling club; if come the summer, we haven't spent nee-enough £40million (i.e reinvest the money). Liverpool have sold Torres, who is a lot better. We got more money in than David Villa. The money had to be taken, and i can't fault Ashley for accepting it. Where Ashley has f**ked up AGAIN, is not lining up any replacement. Liverpool ear marketed their replacements and you can bet if Carroll failed a medical Torres would still be at Liverpool. Jumping at the cash in that way to me says selling club. We got that sort of money because of the tight deadline were working to and them basically panic buying. Being able to get a top quality replacement in at that hour would have been almost impossible. I don't think that it was planned by the club, otherwise I don't think Xisco would have been allowed to go on loan, I think it was a case of an offer being made that was too good to turn down. Hopefully he does a Keane and we can have him back for £10m next year

If I honestly believed they intended to reinvest the money on improving the squad, I'd be happier. Based on nothing at all except cynicism about the current regime, I think they intend to pay down a big chunk of shareholder debt and increase the sale price of the club. They're basically gambling on staying up without Carroll's goals.

Because he's slow, shit, probably expensive (wage-wise) and old, not to mention the club wasn't expecting a bid of the magnitude it took to get them to sell Carroll - plus I wouldn't give the club credit enough to think that far ahead.
