Howay 12496
Carroll's a big fish in a small pond up here and you can tell he loves it, he's got all his old mates etc thinking he's the dogs nuts and no doubt has his pick of slappers on nights oot. This is what he's dreamed of growing up playing in SJP etc, I know it sounds corny but it's true we all dream of playing there when we're little. If Ashley accepts (which as much as he's a cunt as others have pointed out there's been no proof so far he'd cash in on a young star), then obviously it's up to Andy and I'm not sure if he'd want to go to London and become just another footballer, plus let's be honest he'd lose his head down there he's off his rocker up here let alone in a place like London. It's not that small a pond though. If Tottenham's pond is the one at Paddy Freeman's Park wors is the one in Leazes Park. You get more scutiny and attention playing for Newcastle than you do for them. Other than two quick games against AC Milan to say he's played in the CL, I don't see the attraction of uprooting everything to go there. Aye I meant more Newcastle to London, as in he's the star player at a city with only one club whereas in London he'd be a star player at the 3rd biggest in that city. I know what you're saying also Gemmil but it's most players ideals these days, Gary Speed types are very rare.
Park Life 71
Cannit understand any of yous saying he'll defo not go. What a load of shite. If they've actually tabled an offer of that amount, I can see Ashley accepting then leaving it up to Andy. Oh, dispute it all you want but their club's run ten times better than ours and they're far far ahead of us on the pitch. I don't know how anyone could say they're a nothing club and all that shit cos they've got a smaller crowd. Hope this isn't true. Dont worry, we wont accept the bid until 23:55 on Monday He's reporting the breaking news from The Sun, no less. It's not like the Sun wouldn't know if that ringpiece Redknapp had made an offer, with all his mates in the media. I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets accepted. Then it's up to Carroll, and from a career perspective it's a bit of a no-brainer. There's no doubt the bid is true. Mac your respect for Tottenham surprises me. They are a well run club yes. Newcastle United have reached higher heights in the last 15 years than Tottenham will EVER do, we are a club with potential and imo a bigger name than Tottenham. If this was Chelsea or Man Utd, I'd be slightly worried however I genuinely believe Carroll wants to stay here for most of his career. He hasn't got that strength of character or intelligence to cope with London, people who live there will no what I mean, if he moved to London he'd end up with a life off the pitch worse than Gazza there ye are. I'm prepared to put my money where my mouth is. £20 bet anyone who wants it that he'll be at the toon on Feb1st. If Mashley has any brains and Carroll becomes and Eng regular and carries on scoring he can get double 2/3 years down the road. Think Carroll wants to stay, he will only go if they tell him they want/need the money etc... Edited January 29, 2011 by Park Life
Mac-Toon 1
The one thing I'll say is if the FCB was bold enough to lift this pathetic media blackout and actually say himself what is going on, maybe we wouldn't all be calling eachother mongs and what have ye. Pardew, and I'll give him respect for it has come out and said he won't be leaving but that means nothing to the reality of the situation. This is how I'd simplify the situation; Carroll's class, Spurs have plenty money to spend and are in a better and more willing state to offer players what they want i.e lowie and high standard football. This is at the moment btw, I know they've normally had their end of season party by now but they do have a very very good squad. I don't particularly like Spurs but I like how they've grown as a club on and off the pitch in recent years. Players see this aswell, I'd assume. We're a massive club, amazing fans, the works but we aren't in a position to challenge the top4, which I personally think Spurs can. Sad, but it's true at the moment. What helps us in comparison to say Bent leaving them bamps is that he's got the club in his heart and seems a down to earth lad who knows he's at a club he dreamed of playing for. I doubt it'd be a massive lure to want to play for spurs which would drive him to leave, and more the will to achieve. He will be Englands long term number9 and in this day and age these types of player will always generate massive interest worldwide. Maybe he will stay, maybe he'll leave but I'd guarantee if it's not spurs coming in now, it'll be a bigger club in the summer or next summer .. This will test Ashleys resolve and give an indication of our future if it's shown we accept or reject said 'bid'. Good post in some respects but the bit in bold, if FMA was looking at it from a business perspective and he's the country's number 9 for years, surely it would be better to wait 3 or 4 years to cash in. £25m isn't that much in modern football, when you look at Kaka who's been finished 3 years went for £57m. That's what I mean though mate, it'll test the resolve of Ashley and I think he's the type who knows how to work a deal and take risks but when that money's dangled in front of his dish he mightn't want to risk it never coming again. Surely it would be better to wait I agree, everyone would agree, but I just don't trust him and don't believe what people are saying about he wouldn't do it because of the potential 'backlash from the fans' cos we aal naa he couldn't give a monkeys what we think. This rumour'll run forever tbh, cos he's so good and we can't trust the owner given his previous. Great for us fans, eh! I'll say it again though, this media blackout's fucking ridiculous for the transparancy of what their plans are etc. Whilst we just sit and pray. Magpies reject £23m Carroll bidTottenham see renewed approach rejected as 'paltry' By Rob Parrish - Follow me on Twitter @skysportsrobp Last updated: 29th January 2011 Carroll: Spurs interest Newcastle have rejected a new £23million bid from Tottenham for striker Andy Carroll, Sky Sports News understands. The England international has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, bagging 11 Premier League goals before being sidelined by a thigh injury. Carroll's displays in leading the line for the Magpies has attracted interest from a number of rival top-flight teams, with Harry Redknapp keen to bring the powerful forward to White Hart Lane. The North East club are determined to retain the services of their star man and have rebuffed all offers for his services, with Spurs' latest offer drawing a terse response. Not for sale A high-ranking Newcastle official told Sky Sports News: "The club would like to make it clear for the very last time that Carroll is simply not for sale." Magpies boss Alan Pardew has always stressed his determination to keep hold of his key players during January as he looks to establish the club back in the top flight. Whether you believe them or not, I think they have previously stated the plans and havent really veered off them. This year is about survival which will dramatically improve the clubs finances We are going to steadily build the team by buying / developing young talent that can grow with the club. Trophy signings on silly money are a thing of the past. Our best players wont be sold. Andy Carroll wont be sold. Im not sure what else you would like to hear. Relegation summer aside, we've never sold an important player that didn't want to leave. We've never even accepted a bid for an important player and left it up to them. Given and Insomnia engineered their own moves. If Carroll does that then fuck him, but I'm confident he won't, and I'm even more confident that we won't be trying to encourage him to move. We're having a good season, on a decent unbeaten run and within touching distance of our preseason hopes/expectations. What's the fucking point in reams and reams of posts slagging the club and it's ambitions off. We came into the season to stay up, we will. I think you've overdosed on the arsehole pills btw. Your patter in this thread has been fucking lifting. See me, i think people who reckon we'll sell him and make up claims about Levy and Ashley being mates are the ones with shit patter. ASM may act like a dick but he talks sense. I said it 4 weeks ago, name your charity and i'll donate £100 on feb 1st if Carroll isnt playing for us. Guest
They've made enquiries and we've told them no. Im sure we'll do the same again. We'll see. We'd be rejecting offers now anyway, whether we intend on keeping him or not.
