Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

Tell you one thing. My fantasy team is going to have to be scrutinised this week. Ive got Both Torres and Carroll in it.

What happens if you have 3 (eg) Chelsea players and then they sign someone else you already have in your squad?

Pretty sure it's game over and you have to start from the beginning.

Or - you can keep going as is but the moment you make a transfer you'll have to ship out one of your Chelsea players.

This, I've had it before.

Why are we blaming Carrol again?

Because he agreed to the transfer?

Some people are saying the club have forced the sale through, others are saying that other club's willingness to meet an extortionate price and Carroll's willingness to leave pushed the sale through.

Two different stories imo.

Impossible without Carrolls agreement.

Cos we all would have turned down Liverpool on 80k a week  Playing with Suarez and Gerrard or Smith and Shola?

He's a geordie playing for his home town club wearing number 9. That used to count for something. For the first time In ages I felt the club was moving in the right direction, but this has taken us back. Yes 35 mill is crazy money for Carroll but what's the point if you've no player to cover the loss. Look at Liverpool, lost Torres but replaced him. It's a fact Shola et al are NOT premiership strikers and IMO be a miracle if we stay up now. Carroll was that important.

Irrelevent....theres no way he was going to say no.....the world and his wife can see we're going nowhere under Ashley and hes only got one career.

Don't blame him, he's a player.Regardless of where hes from, they never have the level of loyalty that the fans have and he's not been all over the press saying how much he loves the club etc....certainly not as much as Torres has.

A bid of 35 million was too good to turn down for Ashley, irrelevent of if we brought anyone in.....another gamble, thats his nature...we've seen it countless fuckin times...

Carroll interview in Times Nov 27: “This is my home, what I want to be doing, the club I want to play for,the shirt I want to wear. That’s it, 100 per cent. I’ve just signed a five-year contract and as it stands, I want to be here forever.".

“This is Newcastle, this is where I want to be,” he said. “If a five-year deal is put on a plate for me then I am going to take it because this is where I want to play my football and live for the rest of my life.

“I have to keep working hard to get a game and scoring goals is just giving a little back for the chance I have been given.

“It does feel good when you hear that the club are not prepared to sell you at any price.

“Obviously it is good to hear that people are talking about you but, like I said, the five-year deal I have signed is serious. I would not have signed it if I had wanted to move.”

Indeed. But can you explain to me exactly what they could have threatened Carroll with to force him out?

We agreed a fee with Birmingham for Larrson but he said no Thanks.

Its that simple, especially when you add all the other stuff like being local, loved by players and fans etc etc et fucking cetra.

Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club

Carroll never wanted to leave it's a sideways step at best, he's so fuckin thick he'll wake up tomorrow and think what the fuck is going on, what have I done, he's such a fuck up he's on my msn, I swear this is true, he pm'd me and asked me to get him a facebook code number off my phone cos he fuckin had lost his, on my life that is true he's a fuckin charva nobhead, he didn't want to leave, he'll be like a fish out of water. We wake up in the morning, we WILL stay up, but it sums this fuckin club up that there's never been a contingency plan for this, I'd have been delighted with Charlie but what a fuckin swizz, no cunt would accept a bid of £11.5m for their best player when they are threatened with relegation like Wigan are, when there's £50m at stake if they were relegated. Blackpool, the smallest club ever in Premiership history have knocked back 12s for the same reasons, if they can any cunt else can!?!? The fact is am sure yous have mentioned it the neet without looking, FUCKIN SMOKESCREEN, "ah whey at least we've had a gan", I hope no one is fooled. I'm all for this transfer fee on face value, this scummy propaganda, it could get even worse. I seriously think David Craig is on the pay roll, with his obsessive fuckin pish about how they've insisted we'll be big players in the summer.

Patently bollocks. While I'm not defending the move there is no denying that Liverpool are a bigger club than us. And a club who will be ahead of us for many years to come.

I was just presenting both sides of the coin, as i see it. Anyone trying to definitively describe this transfer and the motives and actions of all parties within minutes of it unfolding on twitter are a bit naive imo. As some have intimated, there may be significant information to come out. I just think that means more people to spin their shit about it.

The bare facts are that Liverpool bid over the odds to prize our asset away from us. Which doesnt suggest the club were keen to sell him. Happy to take his 'price' though.

The lack of a replacement is not surprising really, just infuriating.

I can't blame the club too much, it was massive money and we all know what Ashley is like.

I'm just disappointed that Carroll didn't fight it is all.

I wonder how the other players will feel about this.

I suspect some may have serious considerations about staying further than the summer tbh, unless we spend a fair chunk to reinforce any ambitions we might have.

Good question? And one more thing I keep hearing that at £35million we had to sell - why? It's not as if that money will be reinvested.

If the money isn't re-invested in the summer then it'll be clear to them what sort of a club we've become. As if the appointment of Pardew wasn't enough.

If you're being told to leave by your employer and and about to take a lump sum that will probably multiply your bank balance, digging your heels in probably isn't an option.

It's maddening. Nothing to soften the blow even slightly.

Can we stay up without him is what MA would have asked Pardew....
