Marko 0
Former Rayo Vallecano midfielder Mohamed Diame has hit out at his lifestyle in Wigan, claiming there is nothing for him outside of football. The Frenchman enjoyed the high life in Spainish capital Madrid before being signed by The Latics for £4million two years ago and he misses going for evening strolls in the warmth. Diame has also struggled to cope with the recent cold snap and when temperatures plummeted over the festive period he says he jokingly feared he would turn into an 'ice cube'. Nothing to do "The truth about life in Wigan is that there is nothing to do," he told French magazine So Foot. "It is a crappy place. The town is tiny, and there is no atmosphere. I go in to training, I return home afterwards, and that is all I do. "There is absolutely no comparison between Wigan and Madrid. I was happy there - it is a capital city, and I guess it is the same as any capital. "After training I was able to go for a peaceful stroll. It was never really cold over there. "But as for here - don't get me started! When it snowed I felt like the temperature was minus 15, and feared I was going to turn into an ice cube." Myth Diame has also criticised Wigan's women, claiming Spanish ladies are more attractive - at least during the daytime. "It is a myth to claim that all English women are ugly," he continued. "But I won't lie, it is rare to see truly beautiful girls when you go out during the day. "In Madrid I had the impression that all the women were beautiful. "But it's a different story when you go out in the evening here. The girls seem to cover themselves up all day, only to be in good-looking mode at night." Stay Despite Diame's obvious discontent with life in England he has vowed to see out the season with The Latics and plans to review his situation in the summer. "I'm going to stay with Wigan until the end of the season. We have to make sure we stay up," he said. "I am not in a hurry. This is my second season in the Premier League, I have a year left on my contract, so let's see what happens about next season. "I don't plan to go back to France for the time being. The English league is one of the best in the world, and I don't want to move house once again." skysports Haha nothing like endearing yourself to your fans by calling their town a shit hole and say the Women aren't up to scratch! Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
He wouldn't say that if he lived in the toon. Geordie people are statistically the best looking in the UK, the tallest and the most elegant. Living in Wigan ffs you know what you're going to get, why moan about it? Always the same when these french players go home, in the papers over there, he'll say he was misquoted you watch. The french will lap it up too cos they think we're bamps. Guest alex
Hardly a surprise, is it? Should be honest and just stick in a transfer request rather than moan about Wigan not being as nice as Madrid.

I know, but I doubt one is radically different from the other, you go to one, you've been to them all. Same goes for places like Wakefield, Blackburn, Burnley, Preston etc.

I agree that he should shut the fuck up though.

The Fish 11076
I hate this "I'd live in a shit hole for 20k a week" shit. Course you would, you're not on 20k a week and you don't really have a choice. However, if you're a professional footballer, you're able to move around a bit and live in nice areas, and be on 20k a week. Now, put it in terms you're more familiar with, would you live in a shit hole for your current wage? I know for a damned fact I wouldn't

And I'd move to somewhere for double what I was on now, even if it was a bit shit, which is probably what he's done and he only has to 'work' in said shithole and can go out in places like Manchester if he wants. It's not really the point anyway though. He's angling for a move but instead of coming out and saying so he's trying to make the club's position over him untenable so as not to jeopardise any bonuses etc. I've no doubt Wigan is a dump but it's not like he's just noticed. The Fish 11076
My point being that I don't think it's a position we can put ourselves in. We've no real idea how we would react to £20k a week and living in Wigan. That kind of money is out of the majority of peoples grasp. That lifestyle is as alien to us as can be. It's just a tired cliché, we probably would suffer living somewhere crap, but we haven't been a professional footballer for our formative years with all the ego-fluffing and mania that surrounds it. We're grounded and hence why we'd appreciate our lot in life, even if that lot was not a lot. Of course you or I would live in Crewe for £20k a week because we appreciate the value of money and doing the thing you love for a fat cheque. This guy (and seemingly many others) haven't got a scooby doo. In the same way as that saying goes "A man is only as loyal as his options", the same is true for footballers (on the whole, there are of course exceptions)
