OTF 7280
Someone who used to be a good friend came to football (it was his team) in a Germany top years ago, and I said I wasn't playing if he was wearing that, and he took it off. Bit serious that like.. I suppose Germany and England don't exactly have the greatest footballing history. I wore a Spain to the World Cup last year to see them play. Wore it in Spain as well as other places (nice lightweight thing good for traveling). Only problem was the people coming up to me speaking in Spanish I also have a Hungary shirt cause I have Hungarian heritage.
manc-mag 1
Nah wouldn't buy any current foreign international tops, particularly during a W/C, but some of the retro ones are bang tidy.

Guest alex
Alex down the Quayside drinking Skittles. Like some bizarre parallel Newcastle. Stayed for one drink. B'ah Humbug! Tbh. We'd been for a meal down there and we went to bar afterwards which I didn't like and someone used the kitty to get a round of them. So I went home after that. Stevie is right about the Quayside like.

In an alternative reality, this anecdote continues "And then I noticed he was wearing Germany shorts...".

Round the Central station generally, top end reasonably often. How about you? Don't go out that much nowadays, but when I do I wouldn't rule out the quayside - what's wrong with it? Quite often go to the Crown Posada. The Forth is the only place I go to near central I think, but it's usually too busy. Sometimes I might head off to Jesmond or Ouseburn as well, or just go to Tynemouth (where I live). Edited January 27, 2011 by Renton

Full of women who think they're untouchable, and very little middle ground, because it's either that or absolute common as muck stinkers. The prices of drinks generally are ridiculous too, I don't appreciate paying 40 and 50 quid a round, to be knocked from pillow to post somewhere totally wank like Offshore. I go the Quay once every 18 month max now and it's still too much, although I can tolerate the Quayside Bar on a summers neet. Either you're buying in rounds of 12 or you're drinking Krug. Anyway, I get your point, I don't go there on a weekend night though, unless its early before heading to a restaurant. Sometimes it's canny to have a couple after work or a walk and have a nice view. Never noticed other people are pretentious or owt, but then I'm not on the pull. Perhaps it's very different on a quiet week day night to a weekend, but I can't even remember being there through the week tbh other than last year through the day in the Akenside, my fav pub down there btw. When you're drinking vodka redbull and other such exotic drinks and there's 7 or 8 of you it's easily done re rounds. If it's just you and Gemmill drinking stout then I can see how you won't spend more than a tenner a round.

Alright for a couple of pints like. You're right though, poles apart. I think of the places round there I hate the ones like Destination and Coco Vs the most. They're basically dumps but think they're something. The Forth makes an effort with the booze they sell but attracts psuedo-arty wankers at the same time. To be honest the gay bars along from the Central are good too, much better than the Quayside, as long as you're not homophobic. Aye Rafferty's is funny, they're not all dregs, and the manageress has the biggest tits in any bar in Newcastle.
