Whilst I appreciate the loyalist optimism methinks we may be in for a spot of bother.

Watched them play Man.Ure at the weekend and they looked good, very good.

Yeah they were class against Man U tbf, two very good teams playing good football, I was impressed.

So basically they won't be against us because they're not up to it every week . Man U are champions, they're just a good team that get beat away as often as they win.

aye, so they are near the top of the league because they play shite every week  What a prick.

Perhaps if you read the sentence above the one you bolded you'll see that my point is that they don't play shite every week.

Feel a bit sorry for you so won't pursue this one.

pursue it if you like, I'll run rings around you. Remember when we were where they are, not so long ago, and you found it all so embarrassing ? :o Poor dear.

Seriously though, you sound sad and needy trying to pick an argument with that so I'll let you off. You've literally lost before you start.

And if you can't see that within the quote itself then I've already made a saving by not bothering arguing.

Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club

No SWP on Saturday then for fuck sake. Guthrie is a £3,500 a week player sadly. I'd rather he started with Gosling.

The article in the chronny goes on to say how impressed he was with Guthries second half display against sunderland.

He didn't do anything outstanding.

guessing fcb is gonna try and ream me for this, but i like guthrie. he's been substandard for most of this season, true, but i think he's a good player. possibly our best passer and can be a creative force for us

Had lots of chances though and hasnt delivered......so far.

i think if keegan had stayed guthrie would have developed much more by now, but the same excuse could be made for jonas. meh

just an opinion, but i think guthrie is a lot more negative and passes sideways more than when he came.

How many times has Guthrie been brilliant for the toon though? This is his third season, and other than his goal against Leicester he's delivered little. You have to look at it in the context of is he a top half Premiership player, I don't think he is, I don't think he'd get in Sunderland's team for instance.

actually

i think in sunderlands team he'd look a lot better

his main skills are passing to players who are in space, threading throughballs into space for a striker to run onto (like lovenkrands last season) or crossing balls in from a wide area for strikers to attack. guthrie is all about players moving into space, and we dont move that much. even when jonas and enrique link up they more often than not just stand a few yeards from each other and pass it, hardly ever overlap (although i do enjoy it when jonas goes the long way round), this brings me back to keegan. hughton, for all his brilliant defensive coaching, has quite clearly neglected the attacking play, whether through design or sticking to coaching what he knows.

unfortunately guthrie doesnt have the discipline to play on the right like barton, so putting him there (especially when we tried it in front of perch) is close to suicide in the prem, and this season, to me anyway, he's looked a lot less fit than last year, add that to our ever increasing reliance on just throwing balls forward for carroll and a largely static team with less space in the prem, and it's left guthrie playing to his weaker skills if you get me.

Spurs have been pretty average this season apart from VDV. He has single handedly carried this side which hasn't handled all the extra games well. The strikers are pretty poop, Lennon can't cross and Bale's ears are recognised now as a major handicap in world football, apart from when he starts to skim/fly as he picks up speed. Keep VDV in check and the bannanas are ours.

good point about vdv. he really is their main man. it's ridiculous how much they seem to depend on him this season, given that they got champions league without him.

modric has been playing well though, so let's not forget about him

As his forehead gets bigger he tends to keel forward more, hence nulliyfying his passing due to an inability to look up.

hahahha good work. I hope you do focus on VDV because all four of them could rip you a new one given half a chance.

By Dan King

Magpies striker Andy Carroll has lost his battle to be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has missed United's last four games - the wins over Wigan and West Ham, the cup loss to Stevenage and the derby draw with Sunderland - with a thigh injury but had an outside chance of figuring against Spurs.

But Alan Pardew has now ruled him out of his plans for the game, with Carroll yet to resume full training.

Following the Spurs match, it is more than a fortnight before The Magpies are back in action with a trip to Fulham on Wednesday, February 2, and it's likely that the 11-goal hitman will be back in action by then.

Modric is probably favourite to be fans player of the season this year and Lennon's pink boots didnt stop him bagging against your lot at the lane.

Nothing like basing an opinion on a player from MOTD highlights.
