Kid Dynamite 7199
Still reckon that Ben Arfa - - Tiote - - Ireland - - Barton ----------Nolan---------------------------- -----------------------Carroll------------- Is our best team. Yeah he's had a bad season but it's only 18months ago he was City's best player by a country mile and was running games for them. Get his head right and he'll be back playing good football

Since we haven't bought another striker I think bringing in Ireland frees Nolan up like what J69's said, that's a strong midfield and attack if we can sort Ireland out. Howay 12496
Aye you're right about it being a big question mark but with our low spending policies we're going to have to ride our luck now and then, I think J69 meant for BA and Barton to be the other way round. Howay 12496
Anyway, fingers crossed he can improve the team which I think he will. Be great if we can recapture the form he had from a couple of seasons back but failing that I think he can still do a job for us until the end of the season when there'll probably be more on the market. JawD 99
Our squad is paper thin. While Id have preferred a forward (Unlikely while we have Shola, Carroll, Best, Lov, Ranger etc and AP gave support to Shola and Best) and also a winger who can cross (I was hopeful of this after Routledge went out the door), I'd take anything that can improve the squad. When Nolan, Barton, Tiote have been out and we've brought in Guthrie or Smith etc, there has been a notable drop off in performance imo. Though guthrie had a couple of canny games, over all I'm yet to be convinced by him. I think Ireland, if he can get his form back, has every chance to jump into the side and play next to Tiote with Nolan playing off the forward. Christmas Tree 4866
Before everyone gets too excited about IRELAND, according to physio room he's still out with knee ligament damage and no return date????? Even if he's on the mend, Goslings relapse just shows there is no guarantee of a quick return. Confused by this I must say.

That’s the thing, apart from one season at City he’s been average-to-crap for his entire career. He’s also a Grade A cock off the pitch. I’ll judge him on what he does for us but I’m not hopeful. How he does and where he plays will be our first real glimpse of what Pardew has to offer.
