OTF 7583
I wonder what sort of wages Pienaar will be wanting on his new contract? Thus far Everton have agreed to offers from both Chelsea and Tottenham believed to be approx 2-3 million. Tottenham and Chelsea of course can offer Champions League football, which is something that we can't, but surely he'd spend more time on the pitch with us than he would with either of the London sides. The price seems a snip, though wage would be a concern. Certainly we should be in a position to offer more than Everton have, though at 28 years of age signing one of Ashley's lengthy contract would be out of the question. Am I kidding myself? Whilst he's a good player he's no World beater being a bit lightweight and lacking in terms of end product.

More chance of us signing Francois Pienaar. I think he'd leave the blue dippers for us, they are a nothing club who have overachieved in their wooden shack under Moyes I think that's part of his motivation for leaving, but there are clubs who are presently bigger than us Chelsea, Dortmund etc.. who are more viable options for him. I think there's a time he would have, but that's not now. We can't offer wages and we can't offer trophies. At best it would be a sideways move. Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
I think Tottenham need more steel if they're going to be title contenders in a few year. Signing Pienaar is just signing the type of player they already have. Huddlestone's like Gentle Ben the bear, and Jenas isn't going to dominate the midfield. They need someone like Essien, and a genuine class centre half. Bassong is a good player, but is he a title winner in the making, is he a Vidic, that's what they need. Till they get it they'll win fuck all worth winning.

I'll probably get slated for this but I'd like us to sign someone like DJ Campbell in all honesty I think he'd compliment Carroll well.

He's shit, pops up with a few goals more out of luck than guile. I swear, we'd be better off with Airey winning a chance than spending money on Campbell. Think they tried to cook it up a bit with Zakora, but him being absolutely shit has put them off the 'type'.

I thought Nicky Maynard was very good last season and he's got quite a good goal scoring record. I would even go one further and suggest Jimmy Bullard on load to cover midfield. Hull are even willing to share the cost. http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/foo...02039-22761791/ Edited January 19, 2011 by Phil
