Kitman 2207
I don't understand the mentality of the Mackems regarding the Bent deal. £18 million is a good deal but without a ready made replacement waiting in the wings you will struggle. Money in the bank doesn't score goals. I reckon he demanded to go to Villa and made it clear he would be very unhappy to stay.
Ketsbaia 0
According to Caulkin the Bent deal is being paid for in installments and they're worse off in the short term as the first fee doesn't cover the amount still owed to Spurs.

Rhys1879SAFC 0
Unlike the majority of Mackems I have grown to think that this is a good deal for the football club. There's still a lot of bitterness there but whats the point in having an unhappy footballer on your hands? In fact he hasn't looked his usual self since as early as November. I remember against Bolton at the SoL the week before Xmas, we won 1-0 and usually when we score he's the first on the scene celebrating, Welbeck scored but Bent instead of congratulating his teammates just shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the half-way line. What knarks me is that Sunday was our biggest game of the season so far and he was already thinking about handing in a transfer request the selfish bastard. £24M is the same as Man City paid for Tevez however so at least that has healed the pain somewhat. Howay 12496
The should stop talking about this £24m figure, no one apart from the 2 clubs know the stipulations it could be like £2m after 100 league appearances etc in which case they wont see that money for a long long time. Villa have obviously gambled knowing they need a goal scorer that he's going to push them up a few places meaning more money in and possibly avoiding relegation, if he starts banging them in and Villa finish mid table I guess it's been a good deal for them. If what Caulkin's said is true it's a wank deal for the Mackems, would be comical if they ended up with Fuller and sewper Kev.
Besty 4
Welbeck out for 8 weeks as well. Don't fancy Gyan to score the goals alone and it's not like the midfield has been helping out!

I can never agree with this. You should never sell your best players, and if they want to go from you when you should be big enough to keep them and attract others, you have to ask yourself the reason why. If its geographical, or there are personal problems, OK. But if he considers Villa to be a superior club, the mackems have every right to ask themselves why ? Sorry mate, but every time I see posts like this on any NUFC message board it makes me cringe, it is nothing other than 3rd rate defeatist mentality, and the mackems are certainly a bigger club with bigger support than the likes of Villa too. Barney 0
I quite like Fuller, especially during his PNE days(seemed to score every week), but £3m is a LOT for a crocked striker, even if it is just to tide them over to the summer.

Tom 14020
Apparently I'nsomnia is going to cost them £12m That plus the £50/60k is wages he'll be after! Fuller is gash btw.
Guest alex
Fuller's ok, but buying a player who can't pass a medical is a bit desperate. That sort of money for N'Zogbia is crazy too, and I've got a bit of time for him (as a player anyway).
NobbySol 7
I heard Jamie Redknapp was saying Spurs received 6m from the Bent transfer. My assumption is the sell on clause was 25% of 24m(despite there being add ons and so on?) as 33% of 18m just wouldnt sound right. So the deal doesn't look as good for Brucie if that's the case
Tom 14020
Apparently due to the money to Spurs all the money being paid to Sunderland is in instalments.

I don't think we are, certainly historically they have been more successful, winning a European Cup and 7 league titles, they've also consistently played their football in England's top flight since the Premier League came into being, something we haven't been able to do. I do think we have a bigger fanbase however, Villa couldn't even sell their allocation of 1500 for the Birmingham derby on Sunday.
Tom 14020
Villa got less than 15'000 the season after they won the European cup man, Support has never been their strong point.
Rhys1879SAFC 0
That is bad but attendances in the 80's were very poor at a lot of clubs, including the two big north east clubs. Edited January 21, 2011 by Rhys1879SAFC

I'm being honest with you here, you are one of the biggest clubs in the country, behind us mind, but bigger than Villa. Bob Murray ran your club disgracefully for 20 years man, just like the wankers we had pre-1992 and the current tosspot is running it down too, despite our decent enough first season back which is all it is.
