Anonymous Torrent services.

My usenet provider (Giganews) keeps promoting their private VPN which in theory means anonymous everything but I don't know how that stacks up with the ISPs - I'd guess it depends.

I'd only worry if you were a large seeder rather than a leecher anyway.

ISP know everything you download.

go on...

It don't matter where it comes from or where you get it or how you get it. They can see everything either by your ip address or your router protocols and everything that comes down is logged against that number.

They can't be arsed to look that is true, but if they were asked to look by someone they would have it all on record, the amounts and where from and the nature of the content (They wouldn't know the actual content unless they were keeping a log of sites visitied).

Even if you stuff is encrypted they can tell what kind of stuff it is if not the exact nature of the content, different kinds of ports and (their routers need to know this to assign traffic). They also record the ip of where it is coming from.

If we're getting into SECURE SERVERS then you'll have to ask Ant cause the level of encryption is high enough to make the data illegible. Then they are only guessing at the nature of it by the type of traffic.

IMO all digital traffic is transparent and they know everything about you that you do online if they WERE INTERESTED IN YOU.

They aren't really that interested at this moment in time, but they might be in the future. Especially if it is another way to make more money from your habits.

parky talking absolute drivel in another thread reminded me to respond to you here, fish.

to answer your question intelligently, an encrypted vpn service will do what you're looking for, I've been using it whenever I go back to torrents as I have one for other needs anyway.

though as others have pointed out earlier on, there are now a lot of other ways of downloading stuff that the copyright holders can't track properly anyway.

shoot me a pm if you need a recommendation

If you bothered reading my post I said encrypted stuff/servers are another matter and better to ask ant.

Regarding intelligence you're not in my league mate.
