In no order

Raiders of the Lost Ark, a perfectly executed Boy's Own romp.

Withnail, still funny no matter how many times I watched it as a drug addled yoof.

Cool Hand Luke, poignant, dark, funny and an epic performance by Newman.

Good thread Stevie, you gunning for best general poster in 2011? :huff:

Little Dieter Needs to Fly

Good Bad Ugly

Police Story (the one with the bus stunt, can't remember if that's 1 or 2)

First one I think. It was a fuck up as well :huff:

I know, that looked fucking painful. JC is the best film-stunt-guy ever imo. I've not seen any of his films with Sammo Hung, but I love that guy too; used to love Martial Law when that was on telly, quality kung-fu scenes. Actually I'm lying I saw Meals on Wheels which had Sammo in, was ok. Fucking stupid story but the fight scenes at the end are awesome.

Love Sammo Hung. Project A, Eastern Condors, Wheels on Meals, Magnificent Butcher, Encounters of the Spooky Kind, The Prodigal Son. Classics.

He was in Enter the Dragon too.

Off the top of my head The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and The Godfather are my two favourite films.

Then after that, I could probably name about 50 others that I can't chose between.

From the sc-fi genre:

1. Star Wars

2. Aliens

3. Terminator 2

I think on first viewing that Alien is the better film.

But, I've watched Aliens a lot more.

Alien and Aliens are 2 completely different movies. 1 being suspense and 1 being full on action.

Aliens is a blueprint for all banter related "pick me off" action war movies.

21st century:

of time and the city

the return

tropical malady

all time:

winter light

mirror

ordet

:huff:

I'd love to be able to say with a straight face that these sort of films are my favourites but I just can't. I respect and enjoy them but could never love them in the same way as The Maltese Falcon, Star Wars and The Good The Bad And The Ugly.

Rosemary's Baby

The Graduate

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

From when Blondie fires the cannon to when Tuco is opening Arch Stanton's grave, is the best background music in any film ever in human history, has the potential to put hairs on the beck of your neck even after you've seen it 100 times.

Wouldn't argue with a word of that.

The bit where Tuco's getting weighed in by that big hairy gripper in the POW camp-genius counterpointing of violence and soft music. First time I'd seen that done though I'm sure someone better versed in cine history will tell me it wasn't a first.

Eli Wallach, the guy who played Tuco in The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly, is the same actor who played the weird whistling guy in Wall Street 2.

1. Scarface

2. Godfather 1 & 2, with a leaning toward Part 2.

3. Apocalypse Now Redux.

Notable exclusions, as top 3 lists are tough: "No Country For Old Men", "There Will Be Blood" & "Blade Runner"

No Country saw the introduction of modern day film's coolest & most chilling villain, while There Will Be Blood lays host to the most ruthless bugger seen in recent times.
