I know he didnt get a big run out but what did you's think of Ferguson?

I still think he's too lightweight and thought today he put too much distance between himself and Jose. His composure seemed quite good and age will help him bulk up, so maybe in a few seasons he'll come good. I would definitely look to loan him out to get game time.

He'll go nowhere whilst theres no other cover for Jonas, who tbf I though played well tonight.

North East revival... #safc three points off the Champions' League. #nufc 8th, win game in hand and in possible UEFA spot.

If top 4 get CL is it just 5th that get EL?

Nowt against Chris Hughton but to me, its quite clear that we now have a "manager" in charge instead of a very good caretaker.

Don't even try that shit tonight.

Fuck off you soft lad :huff: I think most fans can start to see some of Pardews influence coming through and thats nothing against Chris, just a fact.

Ranger was dog-shit, nevermind that miss which was one of the worst misses seen at our place for ages, the rest of his game was atrocious.

Get rid.

Bit harsh on a 19 year old. Especially when he played a lot of the game on his own up front. He does seem to lack finishing ability though - which I hope he can sort out soon. A loan would be a good a move.

I am not Ewerk's greatest admirer but it was Hughton's team. Nowt to suggest Chrissy wouldn't have done the same.

The bloke on the commentary said theres only one other player scored a hat - trick on his premier league debut

Best made a premier league appearance last week. He also played 7 years ago for Southampton.

I think you can work out the point the commentator was making on your own so I'll not spell it out for you. :huff:

we need him to play far better than that though. someone needs to tell him he's playing in the premier league. and that the jobs not done until the final whistle. having said that against liverpool he was the difference between the 2 sides. a bit more consistency and a couple of goals by the end of the season and he should be ok.

It was the co-commentator (Barry Horne I think) who was trying to suggest Leon Best was on the path to greatness by likening him to Shearer and Malcom MacDonald. I doubt that will ever happen.

For one, I don't think Hughton would've put Ferguson on.

Who knows? He threw him in against Chelsea but that wasn't what won us the game so convincingly.

Correct, only a tactical genius would have put a young, promising player on when the match is already well won.

Fuck off. I'm basing this on the fact that in our 6-0 against Villa and 5-1 against Sunderland, Hughton didn't put on any of the young players on the bench (maybe Ranger). But no Vuckic, Kadar, or Ferguson. Usually just Smith.

Aye, a bit harsh. His spirit and battle up front is fine, its the total lack of composure and concentration with the ball at his feet makes me think he is never going to perform.

After Best's showing tonight, Ranger is no better than 5th in the pecking order. We're in the market for a new player up front too.

Shearer got a Hat-Trick on his debut, but that's pre-Premier league.

Pennant?

It could have been pennant, he did say the name but my memory is mush.

Even your attempts at trivia are fucking shite! :huff:

Vuckic was on the bench v Villa if I remember correctly.

Im also going to go out on a limb here and say it was pretty hard for Hughton to know the result before the games started.

I think in the last few games we are starting to see a variety of new free kicks being used such as Colochins off the bar and the one to lovenkrands for the goal tonight.

I also think he has got Tiote playing safer in our half.

He definitely seems to have the team closing down players better and holding posession a lot better.

He seems to be getting through to Jonas (however I'll concede that could be the Ben Arfa signing)

I also dont think you would have seen Hughton starting with Best or using Ferguson. Hughton would have put nolan up with Lovenkrands, Barton into the middle and Routledge on the wing. I think he's showing some balls, especially considering these were two must win games.

I think in general he uses substitutions (and their timings) very well.

Just my opinion.
