Christmas Tree 5106
John Carver released by Sheffield united where he's being caretaking. Is he good enough to be no 2 or was he too much of a yes man?
TicTacWoe 0
I like Carver but hasn't he regularly slated the current owner/regime when speaking on the subject? That would rule him out if so. Edited December 31, 2010 by TicTacWoe

A manager needs to have someone who is comfortable telling them when they are wrong.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
He was going to be part of Shearer's back room team. He's slated ashley's regime in interviews, so I can't see it happening.
Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
I'd love him to be our number two. SBR said he was the best he'd ever had. A lovely bloke to talk to, with the waters of the west end running through his veins. Him or Clarkie would be great, not going to happen though. Matt 0
Not sure how anyone can tell if he was a 'yes man' or not unless someone on here bugged SBR's office. He has come out and had a pop at Ashley on several occasions, but it would not surprise me if the powers that be were completely unaware of that fact. He used to go to our school you know Matt, he used to come and train us sometimes as well when he was YDO.
Matt 0
Carver's done a few old boys' events, everyone who has spoken to him reckons he's a top bloke and absolutely loves the club.

I've spoken to him loads of times, he's the most humble approachable bloke you could ever speak to, last time was in Gormans at Denton Burn a good few years ago and he recognised me. You think all the assistants SBR has had, Mourinho, Don Howe, that bloke at Ipswich, and he rated Carver up there with any of them, shows that he must have something. paddy 17
i would not give it a second thought, met him when we played Blackburn, he was sending someone for fish and chips for the lads on the bus, and again at a reserve game at Leyland, top fella took time out for a chat and pics with the young'un, and as Matt said he loves the club, only negative is the times he has spoken out against MA, and possibly his friendship with Shearer might stand in his way given the way AS feels about FCMA

Frank Arnesen was his assistant at PSV, there's another one.

Despite that, I'd think he'd be a great addition to the club, as mentioned he slaughtered the club, (clearly meaning AshLlam) when they sacked Hughton and would speak his mind. No chance, then. We certainly need to get someone in, the way things are going everyone being linked with the job seems to be distancing themselves as fast a possible... can't think why that would be though.
