I'm sure that year as well the cup final replay was less than a fortnight before the world cup started. As I was on holiday (in Benidorm ) and missed the replay but can remember seeing the start of the World Cup there (especially remember Brazil coming back from a goal down to be USSR plus the opener between Argentina and Belgium).
