Park Life 71
I just fear some sort of situation that makes the club some sort of shallow, contrived shit like X-Factor where it all geared to make Venky's and their own Simon Cowell figure (Jerome Anderson) loads of cash. One story has it that Sam fell out with the new regime because he refused to sign Boyd and Geovanni, clients of Mr. Anderson's SEM agency. If true, then Rovers will look like a SSN rent-a-mong circus act. They fell out over Santa Cruz and his wage demands. FSA was all for it. He's on 80k or summink. Sonatine 11542
Blackburn's owners have spelt out their vision for the future following the shock dismissal of manager Sam Allardyce. They want more entertainment from the team, a top-five finish at least and ideally a British manager at the helm. That comment about Allardyce's successor from Venky's chairman Anuradha Desai would appear to rule out the likes of Martin Jol, Sven-Goran Eriksson and Diego Maradona. She told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We want good football and Blackburn to be fourth or fifth in the league or even better. "The fans should trust us because this is in the best interests of the club. Our thinking now is that it will be a British manager. "But we are open if there is an outstanding candidate, someone who would be really, really good for the club." Desai revealed the decision to dismiss Allardyce was taken before the 2-1 defeat by Bolton on Sunday. She said: "It has been a long time in our minds. It is nothing against Sam but we have a different vision looking forward and we want the club to grow." Desai insists they are not looking for a quick fix and are happy to leave the team in the hands of caretaker Scottish coach Steve Kean for the next couple of months through the transfer window. She said: "We have been studying him and have been very impressed. He works long hours and is talented at his job. He also works well with our very skilful young players and that is important." According to Desai, John Williams' position is safe - although there is speculation the chairman is deeply unhappy at the events of the last 24 hours. Mac-Toon 1
We sent you Graeme Souness too. The next EDL march/fight will probably be in Blackburn. Karma has been reversed since Hale Bopp hit Jupiter. You gave us Darren Peacock, and Keith Gillespie. We've done more good business with you than any club aye. Batty, Shearer, Given etc.. + Khizanishvilli. haha at least we could give him back. Actually he wasn't that bad to be fair. People remember Darren Peacock and Gillespie with rose tinted glasses. Peacock technically was shite and Gillespie had the same good game ratio as Shola. So we've done well with Blackburn, but something tells me we signed someone really shite off them late 70's early 80's and I can't remember who it was. Do you mean the centre half Barton who scored more own goals than actual goals for us. I'm sure he played between about 78 - 82 ish. He was shite, I know that much. Can't remember his first name. David? Derek? Donald?
Billy Castell 0
I wouldnot sign Santa Cruz. Too injury prone, wages too high and will use the Spanish speaking media to engineer another move. I suppose it can be hard working with no money, trying to find bargain bin players to 'do a job', and then have new owners suddenly demanding you look for bigger names to make a bold statement of intent. British manager? lets see how Steve Kean does before we bring in Pearce or O'Neill.

sweetleftpeg 0
Was only a matter of time when those new owners came in i think. I would like to go on record as seconding Sonatine's Nelson Muntz mocking. Ha fucking ha indeed. He'll get an easy ride in the press though, as they don't want to risk upsetting and him spitting his dummy out. BBC Football editor McNulty already written an areslicking article fawning over him. Guest You FCB Get Out Of Our Club
Should be a private eye with a name like that. Well, well, well, well before my time and yours Dick Barton. Just had a look and he was called David Barton, but I've old timers calling him Dick Barton more than David. When I first started going they used to call George Reilly, "Mavis" more than George though. "Goo on Mavis" I remember that during me first ever game. Heard Mavis before obviously but I've never heard of this Barton character. Not exactly a golden era for the club like so that's probably why. NJS 4411
Barton made his debut at Chelsea when we lost 4-0 in 1980 I think - he was nicknamed Dick after the private eye rather than for being shit. He was a typical player of that era - second division was his level.
Billy Castell 0
Steve Kean is looking like the new favourite, with Jol slowly drifting, and Diego's odds taking a tumble. Dave Jones seems to have some backing him too for some reason. And Ladbrokes has Paul Ince at 20/1 . I think Merson and Gillespie must have fallen off the waggon again and lobbed a few grand that way!

Seems that his relationship with Anderson and Kentaro got him the job. Read an interesting article on him this morning about how he has climbed the ladder and never made a secret of his desire to be a manager. Credited with being the tactical brains behind Coleman's success at Fulham. New continental structure with agent as Director of Football?

TicTacWoe 0
seems like a daft move altogether, whatever people say about Sam he would have at least kept Blackburn up. They've already racked up 22 points with less than half the season gone so they'd have to play pretty shit to go down though. Apparently Samba wants out as well which won't help (lyon are after him I believe).

Tooj 17
Friend of a friend tale - my mate from work knew a load who was in the academy around the time Big Sam was in charge. Remember the Monday night game against Arsenal? The one where Smith had his best game for us when he played up front? The first team spent the whole week in training working on one of our players lumping the ball long straight from the kick-off, so Smith could get on the end of it in the right hand corner.
