Pardew plans Barton stay

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_6569441,00.html

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew insists he has no plans to sell West Ham United target Joey Barton.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week , West Ham have targeted a move for midfield dynamo Barton when the transfer window reopens next month.

Newcastle are thought to have rejected West Ham's opening gambit, but the Hammers are believed to be ready to come back with an improved offer for the former Manchester City man.

Pardew has been impressed by Barton this season and he revealed he plans to hold talks with the midfielder over his future.

"He is a big part of my plans," Pardew said of Barton. "I am going to speak to Joey because there is no doubt this season has been a real turnaround for him.

"He still has that hot streak he showed the other day, but his performances have been excellent. He has been one of the top three players of the season."

Pardew also revealed he plans talks with the club over a permanent deal for on-loan Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa is currently injured after breaking his leg against Manchester City in October, but the Frenchman impressed during his first few outings and Pardew is ready to sign the winger on a permanent basis.

"He's in my thinking - strongly," Pardew said of Ben Arfa.

"I am going to speak to Derek (Llambias) about that and see if we can resolve it some way."

Meanwhile, Pardew has admitted he has spoken with chief scout Graham Carr about possible transfer targets.

"I've had a brief meeting about potential targets and positions with Graham Carr," continued Pardew.

"I still need to assess the group here. It would be unfair not to. But the window is an opportunity and you have to keep an eye on it.

"Hopefully it will be good news."

we should bid for keane or bellamy. i reckon david bentley would do a job for us too. maybe kranjcar too. get bids in for the spurs rejects basically. whether they'd come for 20k a week or whatever peanuts we're prepared to pay is debatable.

I'd take Kranjcar like. Dealing with Spurs will probably tempt Ashley to swap a couple of ours the other way though since Redknapp would play big money for the likes of Enrique IMO.

I'd take some left-back cover from somewhere but I couldn't tell you a name. Another striker with a bit of pace as well since Lovenkrands and Best aren't great.

Keane

Bentley

Kranjcar

Santa Cruz

Bellemy

Johnson on loan

Any of the above could be possible. Think we will be looking at fringe players from top 5 clubs. Would be good to sign up Ben Arfa and Taylor plus hang on to our better players. Get rid of....

Shola

Best

Smith

Lovenkrands

Pearch

Gutherie

A lot of wheeling and dealing to be done

Dont want them tbf. Dont want to go back to having the Vidukas, Owens etc

Hope they same bloke who found Tiote, Ben Arfa and co is out finding more of the same.

A transfer window with no key players sold will be a bastard miracle with this lot in charge ;)

FYP

Now I am not an Ashley apologist but these comments come up every window but how many key players has he sold that haven't been pushing for a move?

In regards to potential signings, Seb Larsson has 6 months left on his contract.

Not saying they weren't pissed off with the regime but every window this "If we don't flog anyone decent I will be surprised" comment comes up despite it never happening.

Players could be sold because of what happened recently and they push for moves but I think that's a different context to the idea Ashley sells anything he can get a profit on.

Good shout that like! He'd be an excellent signing.

Lets hope the fat one doesnt decide to get rid of some of our better players 1st tho.

What's aspirational about paying ridiculous wages to players who get you relegated?

Its not about that, you cant permanently look at big name signings and ignore them because we've had a couple of bad ones in the past!

Owen was the biggest waste of money ever but he cost a fraction of Shearer, was he a waste?

I dont see any reason to support that view either.

We need to get rid of Lovenkrands and Smith and replace with Keane and Krancjar. ;)
