I used twitter to get little snippets of info before anyone else, you add media people who release things before they're published. I chat to that Sky bloke Pete Graves a bit, toon fan seems canny, Rio Ferdinand too but yuou cant have a conversation because you only get 140 characters. People like me and Gemmill are always good for a bit of ITK too.

Sonatine 11278
The perils of twitter.... SHOTS PUNISH MORGAN OVER TWITTERPosted 05/01/11 16:24 Aldershot's Marvin Morgan was today suspended, fined two weeks' wages and placed on the transfer list for comments he made on social networking website Twitter. The npower League Two club issued a statement after meeting with the striker who was booed when substituted during the club's 2-1 defeat to Hereford on Monday. Morgan responded to the crowd's reaction by later posting a Twitter message saying: "Like to thank the fans who booed me off the pitch. Where's that going to get you! I hope you all die." According to Aldershot, Morgan has expressed remorse, while the club branded the remarks "completely irresponsible". Wednesday's club statement read: "The player accepted that his conduct was totally misguided and inappropriate and he accepts that his actions were incorrect and ill disciplined. "Accepting that his actions had been foolish he explained that they had been made in the heat of the moment and apologised for the distress he had caused. "The football club are satisfied that the player meant no malice with his comments. However they were completely irresponsible and contrary to the values of Aldershot Town Football Club. The player has also undermined the good work that he and his colleagues have done servicing the local community. "The club is also of the opinion that careful consideration is required for all future use of social networking sites by players and staff as a means of communication. The hearing decided to fine the player the maximum two weeks penalty during which time he will be absent from the club. He has also been placed on the transfer list." Ie are stevies tweets better than his posts. Surely two conversation like on here is better. Can someone explain? Actually, following "famous" people is pretty pointless 9/10. Journos yes. The whole thing, that you are missing, is it is social media. You generally follow people of similar interests that you can discuss things you both may like. Football being the obvious example. Its also a micro blog and you would see people again talking about subjects you may have an interest in. As a taxi driver, you wont get that as the patter is usually one way

(Thats the bit I dont get. I do understand everything else about twitter). Well, I talk to Meenzer on here, by text, through facebook and by Twitter. I don't see anyone medium as better or worse than the other, it depends on what I'm doing at the time. Plus, a lot of Twitter stuff is less considered or involved. It's more disposable. So, for example, a couple of nights ago "That fucking Silky" started a trend with Northern Towns song puns (My Cheadle Heart etc.) and it's a laugh to join in and post your own.
