People get far too wound up about shit like that. Clearly just happy to stay up.

OMGZ!11

It's just that when he says these things it underlines the relationship between manager and owner. He knows he CAN say whatever the fuck he wants.

I would sack the cunt just for the Europa league quote never mind anything else - Yeah Alan that pesky modicum of success really ruined things didn't it?

This, disgusting comments, he should be apologising for fucking this season up so monumentally.

I can't see Mike sacking him now, but I think if he's looking shite next year he'll get the bullet early doors.

I can understand the Europa league comment - it was a great competition to be in but not with the squad we've had this season - not enough rotation possible.

The Arsenal quote is a bit baffling but as usual when he speaks - actions speak louder than words.

Even if he says something positive people don't want to hear it

i'm torn. part of me says we should keep him, that he deserves another chance, with proper backing that he didn't get last summer.

the other part says performances this season have been so gutless and that so many of the things that were good last season - our organisation, strength in defence and spirit etc - have all gone so he has possibly lost the dressing room. if that's the case it'll hard for him to come back.

if i'm honest though, i can't see ashley admitting he might have fucked up and sacking him. he's likely to give him another year, whether pardew deserves it or not.

If they are going to sack him they should do so now and get a replacement now.

I'm confident we'll be decent next year if he's backed - he wont be perfect but he'll be average but this season certainly leaves a foul taste.

Must you play devil's advocate all the time?

No - I just have a bit of perspective man. People have been jumping on every single thing he says for weeks - it's pathetic.

Probably because everything he's been saying for weeks has been fucking disgusting.

Should, but they've never been the brightest in these matters have they?

Would you back him after this year? I don't think Mike will to any significant degree, giving Alan his ready made excuse and probably leading to dismissal around Christmas.

Not backing him was a big part of the problem this year so yes of course I'd back him - or sack him.

One or the other tbh but if he's in the dugout in August I'll be behind him.

As ever the reality of the situation is somewhere in the middle.

The board must take the blame for failing to strengthen in the summer and then failing to sufficiently strengthen particularly weak areas in January ( Striker, Centre back, Wide midfield)

Pardew must take the blame for failing to make the most out of a bad situation. Yes he's not had important players available, but that doesn't excuse the piss poor set-pieces, the piss poor endeavour and the piss poor defensive positioning.

The players must take the blame for not putting in sufficient effort and for meekly surrendering when things got tough.

All in all this has been a shit season and there needs to be an investigation into the coaching, the playing staff and the man in the spotlight himself.

"It has been a season of frustration. We have learnt lessons, I made errors and we will be better for the experience in the Europa League. It has taught us we need more quality in depth.

"The fact we're not in the Europa League - God willing we don't get in by the Fair Play League - then hopefully we can have a good run in the Premier League."

Bit of context for the Europa league quote.

Gutierrez the right footed winger at left back who was man of the match a couple of weeks ago the board were also negligent - in both transfer windows.

Stick a Speed/Ferdinand/Shearer style header in the box and watch how quick we score from a corner - that said I don't think it should be up to the manager anyway - he needs striking coaches.

Bit of context for the Europa league quote.

So there's no desire to qualify again is how I read it - he knows deep down there wouldn't be enough investment to be able to cope so he's basically saying he'll be happy to finish top 10 but not top 5. That also excuses the domestic cup debacles.

It might be realistic in the context of the FC's attitude but it epitomises the cautious approach of the man which underpins his coaching/team selection/tactics.

you reckon thats a god willing we don't get in or a god willing we don't get in and have those extra fair play games, because the former is pathetic and the latter he shouldn't say anyway, you can't be calling yourself a "massive club" and not want to compete in europa because it's "too much for you" like.

I reckon he's happy to be without the responsibility because the ''massive'' club didn't give him a squad capable of playing a 50 plus game season.

Given that we're currently 18th in the FPL I think it's a safe bet that we won't be in Europe next year.

Yep.

If he's going to go I want him gone before next season. So I hope those who want him out get the bedsheets out next week because there's no use writing two seasons off.

one game at fullback does not a defender make, did you forget what he did after that? venturing from leftback through the middle to the righthand side of the pitch giving it away and we conceded?

the second part makes no sense at all, how many headers did you see Ferdinand or shearer score from floated in balls to a back post? They had old school proper wingers driving them in for them.

Cisse is a good header, so is Taylor... to get drive and power on them balls need crossed in properly, whipped in with pace... you get nothing as we've found out for two seasons now from floaty back post balls. Even carroll couldn't score those.

I was referencing the corners tbh.
