cant think of any manager...that has a list of cuntroversies on his wiki page like him

Controversies

So far in his career, Pardew has been involved in several controversial issues and events. In 2003, the BBC described him as being a "dangerous and distant animal" in the media, referring to his public relations abilities, which has led him to making several rash comments.[38] When at West Ham, the club employed a media advisor for Pardew to help him win over sceptical fans.[1] The following is a list of controversies Pardew has been involved in:

  • In September 2003, Pardew resigned from Reading after being refused permission to become manager at West Ham. Reading's chairman John Madejski attempted to create an injunction in the High Court to prevent him from moving to West Ham. Eventually Reading's legal action was dropped, and Pardew joined West Ham after a period of gardening leave.[6]
  • In December 2005, Pardew stated a public interest in Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson, without informing Palace manager Iain Dowie.[39]
  • In March 2006, Pardew had a dispute with Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, after he criticised Arsenal for failing to field an English player in their UEFA Champions League win against Real Madrid.[40] Wenger suggested that Pardew was being xenophobic,[41] a claim Pardew denied, citing his marriage to a Swedish wife.[42]
  • In November 2006, Pardew had another dispute with Wenger after celebrating West Ham's win over Arsenal.[43] Wenger claimed he was "provoked" into pushing Pardew after Pardew's celebrations at West Ham's late win.[44] Wenger was later fined by the Football Association,[45] whilst Pardew was cleared of the charges in January 2007.[46]
  • In February 2007, shortly before Pardew's new club Charlton faced West Ham, The Sun published a report documenting a video of one of Pardew's media training sessions he took whilst manager at West Ham. In the video, Pardew jokingly made several disparaging comments about West Ham's fans.[47]
  • In October 2007, Pardew intervened on the pitch in a match against Hull City to try to break up a confrontation between Charlton and Hull players after Lloyd Sam and Ian Ashbee were sent-off. Pardew denied he made the situation worse by intervening.[48]
  • In March 2009, on Match of the Day 2 Pardew stated that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien "absolutely rapes" Man City player Ched Evans during a midfield tussle for the ball, in the sense that he bested him physically.[49] The BBC said there will be no on-air apology, despite 35 viewer complaints, insisting it had been misheard as "rakes", and expressing no certainty that Pardew would appear, or not appear on the show again.[50]

Pardew is part of the problem. With Hughton and Keegan we had a manager that had the clubs best interest at heart. Man I envy Sunderland. You know a guy like O’neill would never stand for this let alone spearhead it. In Pardew all we have a yes man who’s just happy to be gainfully employed. He’ll do anything Llambias tells him to.

I too am still unconvinced about Pardew's abilities. He came to us without any great records in the Premier league, in fact most of his managerial experience was in the lower leagues.

I still feel sorry for Hughton and think he got the shaft when he should have been given a chance.

Like many, I believe him to be an Ashley & Lambias puppet whom I doubt would rock the boat if it meant jeapordizing his position.

He is a typical PR man, says what people like to hear, is glib, and has indicated he is quite capable of telling terminological inexactitudes.

I still have to question his game plans, starting line-ups, and late substitutions. Can't get my head around why he didn't start Santon against Liverpool, and what seems to be his problem with not giving BenArfa more playing time.

More than that is his persistance with Obertan when it is obvious he is contributing little to the game.

Having said all that, I hope he can dispell all my doubts and do a good job at getting us to be a better than mediocre team, which is what we are at the moment despite being in 7th place.

Absolutely spot on, I have nothing to add to what have been said here.

He's done an exceptional job in the circumstances. Most of us were predicting a relegation battle after more teamers were sold. Some of his selections are frustrating but we're sat in 7th with half the season gone so he's doing something right. I think he's a pretty good coach. We look as solid defensively as we have for some time now plus he's got played like Ryan Taylor looking half decent.

We haven't looked solid defensively for a couple of months now, and Taylor has been the weaklink in that time.

At the moment though, I'm extremely worried about how clueless we seem to be going forward. There's no movement at all, and our main hope of a goal is to lump it long to Ba in the hope he creates something out of nothing. This tactic also means we're giving away possession far too cheaply.

You are a good poster Gloomy, and I agree from a purely results based point of view it's difficult to argue with Pardew this season. It's our second campaign since returning to the top flight and we're sitting in seventh place just four points behind the top six. Despite such form I'd be lying if I said serious concerns hadn't begun to emerge during our recent run of games. We havent really played well since that cold night at britannia.

I was saying Coyle should get manager of the season at this point last year when he had Bolton in our position. They totally crumbled though and finished below us, and this season they've been woeful. This is what I fear for us.

I stand by what I was saying after 11 games, we had some very kind fixtures early on and rub of the green like I've never experienced. It was never going to be sustained.

Wrong to look at Pardew though, because Fergie himself would struggle with the tools Mike Ashley provides. It's just a shame Ashley now sees europe on a shoestring as a possibility. He feels our start has vindicated his approach and any drop off will be the fault of the team/manager.

We don't have the players for a effective 442.

Pardew is absolutely woeful tactically and his team selections are usually piss poor. His man management leaves something to be desired and he's a puppet for the board. If it wasn't for Graham Carr giving him solid gold players to mismanage, we'd be in shit state.

But other than that, he shows an outside chance of becoming a Premier League standard manager if he shows drastic improvements in all areas and is definately the best manager we could hope for under the cockneys cunts' leadership.

The right man for the job as it stands.

Are you sure you're not talking about Joe Kinnear or someone worthy of such hyperbole?

The thing I really like about Alan Pardew is his passion. You can see that he is kicking every ball and transferring that passion to all around him be it the team, the fans or the players.

Love his Elvis celebrations as well. Cant find it anywhere but I like this one as well.

Last night im sure i even heard heard a chorus of eeeyi eyyyio, up the premier league we go.... ending in Pardew is our king.

Acceptance at last for rapey?

I sang "Keegan is our King" first time around, just instinctively.

Second round of it I did give it up for Rapey though.
