OTF 7297
What he does next will be telling. It's clear to all that we lost a very winnable game because the defenders that Pardew selected were not up to standard. His options are extremely limited, but certainly other players could have been played there. Players who would be playing in their preferred position. Of those that played Perch was clearly the worst. If he remains in the side then Pardew needs to be held accountable. At the end of the day you can't blame Perch, he's just not good enough and is well out of depth. Thankfully January is just around the corner. Pardew should be stressing the priorities clearly to Ashley. They are defense and up front. If Ba was to pickup an injury we'd be in big trouble. If Pardew asks and Ashley doesn't deliver then the manager can't be held directly responsible.
Happy Face 29
Would love to go with the 'he sees the guys in the training ground everyday and thus knows them best' but when you see people like Ryan Taylor and Obertan playing week in week out ..... There's little other options for those positions though. Even with a fully fit squad.
2bias 3
Fucking typical!!! 1 bad game (because of injuries) and everyone heads for their pitchforks. 30 odd games Pardew has had at Newcastle and before today only lost 8. You tell me the last manager that had us playing football like we have this season. Get to fuck! Someone with the power pls close this post. Waste of time Totally agree. One bad game and everyone thinks they are an expert who can do a better job. Nearly as bad as the "Ben Arfa should hand in a transfer request thread" Jesus Christ we lost a game get over it, Pardew's record since he has been here has been second to none with what he has at his disposal. peasepud 59
Is it Pardew's fault we didn't invest in the squad properly? No. Is it Pardew's fault Colo and Taylor both got injured in the same game? No. Is it Pardew's fault Tiote has missed games? Don't think so. It is Pardew's fault that we keep playing Ryan Taylor who is clearly out of his depth. It is Pardew's fault Perch has played so often as a sub (for Cabaye?!). It is Pardew's fault we left the weakest link all season unprotected when Jonas was suspended. It is Pardew's fault we keep ignoring players who deserve a chance and whose natural positions are the one's we are struggling with (Santon, Kadar, Ben Arfa, Marveux(when he was not injured)). It is Pardew's fault we have no plan B. It is Pardew's fault we played a full back at cb today, instead of 6'2'' Santon who has played there for Inter, when we knew Norwich's strikers would be big and bustling and they would put the ball in at every opportunity. Some blame must also lie with Pardew regarding Obertan's utter lack of ability to use his pace and go outside - if he can't do it, don't keep playing him. Incorrect and unfair. Most of those issues are Ashley's fault, not Pardew's. Your inability to grasp lines of responsibility or decision points means this thread and your opinion doesnt carry much weight. Now Im happy to take the role of "Ashley batterer" but even I wouldnt pin any of those on him.

I think a lot of us here agreed Santon, even out of position, needed to get in for Taylor because he could hardly be any worse. Same for Ubertwat. Ben Arfa or even Sammy are a lot more likely to contribute to the game than he is. Its getting a bit frustrating because it seems to me Pards is just unwilling to accept he's put his faith in some wrong players. I mean, its so painfully obvious those two are shite, we've been thinking of so many reasons as to why he's kept going with them but each game it becomes more and more obvious its just donkey headedness. Happy Face 29
So with 3 players out already, you want to move another 3 players out of position and start with only 5 first choices where they're supposed to be? Happy Face 29
The basic problem was they scored 4 goals from crosses. We have no defenders to cope with those headed goals, whichever position they play in.

Since the Chelsea game its obvious Raylor has to play for the time being, was speaking in general up to the season so far as regards him. Still no excuse for playing Ubertwat though imo........ jonasjuice 0
Honestly, I just genuinely fucking despair, I really do. Not even a regular poster here, but fucking hell this is meant to be the 'intelligent' Newcastle board. Very, very, quickly coming round to the fact that I love football more than anything in the world, but jesus do I hate football fans. What a set of clueless bastards. TheMoog 0
To be honest I think Pardew is a pretty good manager, our current failings are down to a lack of depth and he can't be held accountable for that.
Park Life 71
Chez is right, but that doesn't excuse Pardew dragging his feet on Obertan and Raylor and what looks to me like freezing our most gifted player out of the side. We are right to question him on these things..It's what healthy debate is all about. So far for me Pardew scores a 6.8/10 for the season as a whole. Squad depth is basically down to Ashley. Seems mad to me the 2 players people are raging about (Obertan and Raylor) are the two that we have no alternative for. If you're gonna play Barfa on a wing it has to be the left, which means guti going on the right. Again, people are suggesting overhauling the entire team. He ain't gonna do it....and rightly so. Happy Face 29
As I said before, is there a reason he couldn't have started ahead of obertan on the wing? pretty sure that's not an awful idea and one quite a few of us would've went for. think he'd have to play on the left and guti on the right....and pardew doesn't want to fuck over one of our best performers to accommodate temperamental, infrequent, gallic flair.
