Smooth Operator 10
Had an e mail about this been thinking about getting an iMac for a while, anyone know what kind of discount there might be, have they done this in past years and if so what was knocked of the rrp? Was reading something that said licensed retainers of apple products fall in with it and offer even bigger discounts than apple do, so can I expect curry's/comet to be better value? That is all

I've also heard that Macs are great when they're new but end up being incredibly slow after a while. Like most Windows PC's I guess, but not sure how easy it is to tune/defrag/rebuild Macs. ChezGiven 0
My 2007 macbook is starting to show signs of age, you can run Diskwarrior if you think there is disk damage that is slowing things up. You dont need to defrag OSX, some people recommend to repair permissions after software updates. All other stuff is automated. It will be 3 years old in March and am not sure its ever crashed. It only has 1gb of RAM but performs about the same as my 2009 HP Elitebook which has 2gb.

I've done quite well from it. £250 food processor wor lass wants for crimbo bought for £150 Xbox game that's £20 at the cheapest places on Find-Game for a tenner Set of 3 housephones that are £100 everywhere for £50 Then there's the deals I've missed Issey Miyake aftershave that should be £30 for under a tenner £450 Pioneer mixer for £325 Dunno why anyone would sniff at those savings. Kid Dynamite 7182
Are they not all things you would never have bought in a month of sundays unless they had money off though ? Its like in Tescos when you can buy one pack of pringles for £1 or 2 packs for £1.50. Never give the bastards the extra 50p!
Happy Face 29
The game falls into that category, but it'll just be going to a coiusin for crimbo. The food processor was the exact one she wanted. The phones weren't for us, her dad was after some. Just got a £32 8GB SD card for a fiver too. That sounds canny good. When I looked on there, everything that was on offer was only about a fiver off... not that I saw anything I wanted mind. The bottom line: The Archos 9 PC Tablet certainly looks the part of a full-OS iPad competitor, but hardware frustrations make it a tough sell. Happy Face 29
Was looking at the arcos 7 internet tablet, you heard owt about them. Best thing about it is the price apparently... The good: The Archos 7 Home Tablet delivers a large screen, slim design, microSDHC-based memory expansion, and a familiar Android operating system, all for an unbeatable price. The bad: Its resistive touch screen is clunky, the processor is sluggish, storage is skimpy, and basic buttons for home screen and volume control are missing. There's no support for Adobe Flash, Bluetooth, GPS, video output, accelerometer, digital compass, and multitouch, and previous Archos tablet accessories are incompatible. App support is hit or miss--mostly miss. The bottom line: The Archos 7 Home Tablet isn't going to amaze you with its specs or features, but its low price and core Android features--Web, e-mail, media playback--make it a workable iPad alternative. MrBass 2723
£1000 Sony Bravia's going for £329 on Amazon now Someone picked up a real bargain earlier, an exercise bike that retails at £201, went for £199! Picked up a couple of tiny savings myself. Gutted that I missed out on a HD video camera that went for £50 Sony Blu-ray player up in 5 mins if anybody wants one. Ruler of Planet Houston 1
Don't know about this 'special' day, but when i was sorting out my mac, I found that the price difference was pretty near to none when shopping at the apple store or dixons/currys etc... Sometimes they do cheaper imacs in places like dixons but if you look at the specs, they usually compromise on some piece of hardware. That said...dixons and currys often have a 5% discount code available on all purchases over £500. I bought my mac from the apple store because it's the only place I could get what I wanted...built it up on the site to see how much it was, but then rang them up (the business sales...not the home sales) and explained the specs to them and the guy automatically offered me a 5% discount (to my surprise). Don't know if it was because of how much I was spending, but he said he would give me 5% off for being a business customer. Would he do the same if I was only spending a couple of grand? Don't know! For imacs, John Lewis are doing them at a similar price to apple and everywhere else but with an extra years warranty. And I was always one of those that saw people raving on about macs being better than PCs and I always defended the PCs. Now that I have switched to the mac, if it wasn't for my job (requiring internet ex-bloody-plorer) I would destroy my PCs and never go near one again!
