A simple question....

What is your favourite iconic / famous photo of all time?

One only please for those of you who are undecisive.

Marylin Monroe

My favourite has always being "Men on Girder". Not sure if thats the right name or the history of the shot but Ive always loved it and just recently bought it.

Taken by Robert Capa in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.

He was in the right place at the right time.

The soldier wasn't.

Very interesting so I decided to have a quick look at the history of it / him and by all accounts its now considered to be a fake (posed). Dont know if you knew that.

The bloke must have had balls of steel to take those shots at Omaha beach with his back to the German machine gun fire.

There are a few more taken on the same girder, one shows 4 of the workers having a nap, the other is someone teeing up a golf shot

Came across this website which has some astonishing famous photos

blurb200lgam2.jpg

that was going to be mine.

The image itself being a graphic example of the horror of famine. more iconic however for the story of its photographer and his untimely death,

still it gave us a great song
