manc-mag 1
we will be going into the last 7 or 8 games looking at the bottom 3 places. After that, its anybodys guess who would go down. Got the entire boxed set recently apropos of nothing. I think he (was) only 1 year younger than Godfrey in real life. Didnt realise it til years afterwards but he was also in at least one of the Will Hay films and he still looked that age even back then. Arthur Lowe's Captain Mainwaring remains one of the finest comic creations ever for me. Might try and get some of those myself Caught the tail end of one the other day and couldnt stop laughing. They were in a rowing boat and ended up on train thinking they were in deepest france but they were still in blighty. Was talking to someone about it last night and was trying to recall if it was Dads army that had the tin hatted air warden??? that they didnt like. Aye...Bill Pertwee ('Hodges') Always called Mainwaring 'Napoleon'. Probably one of the most well cast comedies ever.
manc-mag 1
I remember Viz doing a classic 'Curse of Dad's Army' spoof a few years back now detailing how most of the characters who had appeared in the series had coincidentally passed away. Obviously ignoring the fact they'd be about 100 years old if alive (with Godfrey and Fraser actually having been born in the 1800's.) Think Clive Dunn's about 90 now. Hope he's got a few more good years in him! Legend.

I remember seeing the bloke who played Pike on telly a few years ago who said people kept coming up to him and asking if they would ever get together and do a one-off Xmas special or whatever. Quality. Thick as mince some people, can you imagine his face being asked that on more than one occasion? Ian Lavender...he was in Eastenders a few years back iirc. Couldn't watch him as a 60 year old bloke though, just didnt seem right somehow. Stupid boy.

Park Life 71
Can we at least take a balanced enough view to say that this has been predicted? It's not some alarming unforeseen slide that can't be accounted for, everyone has said we've managed to get a decent enough first team together, but that theres nee strength i depth and as soon as key personnel are lost, we'll struggle. Well that has been borne out entirely as forecast. We weren't going to win the league; we have to build on the positives and address the negatives. Completely agree. Can't really say a slide has started when we've been punching way above our weight all things considered. Reality bites. What are you agreeing with? Is this easier It wasnt unforseen, we were never going to finished top 8 etc so at some point the points would start to drop Our strongest side is canny but lacks depth hence our current plight HOw does the word 'the slide' imply a presumtion of top 8 ness? Park Life 71
Everyone has been all over the place this season - and look at Villa for example it always seems to be like this after a World Cup - and normal service doesn't resume until January The world cup has buggerd some of the top four's key players. Well whatever way you slice it it absolutely insists upon some form of descent from high to low. I think what's being said is obvious enough, ie nobody thought we were going to be cruising at an absolute constant altitude all season. In fact the opposite is true. Well done. **YOU[ve introduced this presumtion of cruising at high altitude and I wish you would just retract it. It is an assumption that is threatening to tear apart middle east peace. manc-mag 1
Sorry, I apologise. My presumption was that we would continue to climb indefinitely and the sudden realisation that this in not now going to happen has left me barely able to contemplate the future. I just didn't see this coming. Can you increase my morphine please doctor!
