why I should be weeping is ratehr obscure - I 'm not a Civil Servant and I don't like their pensions - the civil service offers a pretty good pension scheme. Contributions to the premium scheme are only 3.5%, but the employer is charged another 22% on top

 

By the way would this Gus O'Donnell who wrote the article be Gus O'Donnell the former cabinet secretary and head of the Home Civil Service

 

"Sir Gus O’Donnell, the head of the Civil Service, on £239,999"

 

He's probably on fair whack - 3x annual salary as a pension bonus,plus at least 35/80 of his salary as pension = £ 105,000 a year pension minimum

As head of the Home Civil Service, I am acutely conscious of the impact of this misrepresentation....

I know you don't like them, because you're jealous of them :lol: You also have the calculation formula spot on too by the way ie x/80 [x being years in the scheme]

true, but we know that the vast majority of the civil service are underpaid, do a valuable job, and are often overworked too don't we mate :lol:
