ChezGiven 0
Despite the quality of football, sounds like another club falsely occupying a lofty position by living beyond their means. 93m in debt due to a 'swollen wage bill and sacking Megson'. I wonder if he dares call the new villa 'Casa Reebok'. Shame for them if the finances are that bad but fuck em, we'll be lucky to get a point off them this weekend. tinofbeans 91
they may well play us off the park this weekend. then again it may well be a game that suits us. we tend to defend well against sides that have slower centre forwards. Davies and the lanky swede are a bit shopmobility...
Billy Castell 0
I'd be happy with Coyle replacing Sam at Ewood Park, though that won't happen for a long time. If at all. He does seem to be a bright manager, and not a flash inn the pan like Dowie or Coleman.
tinofbeans 91
trouble is Billy, and i hope you agree with me here, is that you need ball playing midfielders and wide players that don't just work hard (like Emerton for you, or gutierez for us) but have a bit extra. Lee at boltons a vastly underrated player, as is the Holden. Your most creative midfielder is injury prone (david dunn) or lightweight (pederson). mind you the way coyle coaches, he's got the best out of a number of other seemingly lesser players, so maybe its an option going forward. mind his ties with Bolton are pretty deep. Billy Castell 0
True, we hardly have a Barca-style midfield. It is shit. However, he is more likely to address that issue than Allardyce, who'd sign another 6 foot 4 defensive bruiser. Coyle will leave Bolton for a bigger club than Blackburn. Someone like Liverpool, Everton if Moyes left, or perhaps even Man Utd.

You should be happy with just about anyone replacing 'Sam' at Ewood Park - unless you're a sadist and would rather slowly and painfully suck the life and enjoyment out of football. Good on Owen Coyle, though it's sad that any good work done by him and Gary Megson before him won't ultimately be realised because they've gone bust on the natural limitations of a club that size. Not for nothing but I think that they're enjoying a good patch of form at the moment that definitely won't be season long.
Dolly Potter MD 0
Comparisons with Paul Hart [when the latter had Nott.Forest flying in the Championship, before falling short in the 01/02 play-offs] can be made. He's coaching a good brand of footy, one that's advantageous to the devolopment of the youngsters coming through. Like Hart, i hope the ratio of' accrued debt vs income base' doesn't come to the fore to bite him on the arse, which was pertinant in Hart's case when the core of his squad was dismantled/sold in the space of little more than twelve months. tinofbeans 91
Coyles done it at burnley/ and quietly revolutionised Bolton. they weren't playing football as we all know it under megson. seems whilst megson is divisive and not a good long term influence (a bit of a spoilt kid ( like steve bruce!)), coyle seems to be the opposite. people want to play football for him. Seems to have something about him. you have to act on your instincts and judgements, there are no guarantees, but if I owned Newcastle United I would offer him the job and back him as much as possible to get on with it. Today. The fee you pay for the right manager doesn't come close to what you can waste on a poor manager wasting money on the wrong players. Very true. It also amazes me that clubs will generally pay top managers less than top players. Good managers are hardly ten a penny, and are usually the difference between success and failure.
