Park Life 71
FWIW I don't think Carroll will be sold unless he wants to leave. Not yet anyway. If he gets 15 odd goals in the PL this season, then holding onto him will be harder, but his value will go up every year. Might get about 10m for him now, but if he improves he'll be worht double that in a year or two.
JawD 99
Give Carroll 200K a week and he'd be dead within a month. FYP
The Fish 10761
'England call would mean everything to me' – Carroll But the striker, expected to earn his first senior England call-up for Wednesday's friendly against France, won't rest on his laurels. The 21-year-old's form in front of the net has taken him to the brink of international recognition, with England coach Fabio Capello having watched him extensively in recent weeks, most recently at Arsenal last Sunday where he scored Newcastle's winner. Capello has been told by Football Association chiefs that any off-the-field issues surrounding Carroll shouldn't be a bar to his selection. And Carroll says it would be a huge honour to represent his country at a sold-out Wembley. "I'm delighted with seven goals, and feel I'm doing well at the minute," Carroll told the Gazette. "At the start of the season, I'd have took it, of course. I've started well, but it's not just me – the whole team has started well. Hopefully, we can keep it going. "If (an England cap) comes, it'll be a great feeling – not just for me, it'll be for my family as well. "We'll see what happens. I'll be delighted if I do, but it won't stop me doing my job for Newcastle United." Carroll – who scored United's goal in the midweek defeat to Blackburn Rovers – insists his new-found status as the English game's next big thing, and the close scrutiny of his private life of late, haven't affected his focus on the field. "It won't bother me," added the Gateshead-born player. "I don't bother reading newspapers, and I don't even watch Match of the Day. "That way I don't know what anybody's saying, and I can get on with my job. "I just go to training, train well, prepare for the next game and work with the manager – I just focus on the job. "When Saturday or match comes, I just look forward to playing football and scoring goals for the team. That has got me this far, so I probably won't change my preparations for matches. "I don't watch TV and see or hear what they are saying, and it works. "I just listen to my team-mates and people at the club. I just do what I need to do." * Newcastle United's reserve game against Manchester City on Tuesday afternoon will now be played behind closed doors at the club's training ground.
