To be fair like, you can eat healthy versions of all those dishes. I bet he isn't though.

Correct.

Burgers, home made with extra lean mince.

Curry, home made from curry powder and water, veg and lean chicken.

Bhajis, Home made using onions, a few spices and a few table spoons of flour.

Pretty healthy stuff tbf unless you want to go all salad 24/7.

FWIW, turkey mince is great if you're looking to cut the calories/fat. There aren't many dishes where you really notice the difference from beef - although, granted, burgers would likely be one. Great in chilli, spag bol etc. though.

Spot on. Works great in a lasagne too.

Are you starving yourself today, CT? Tell the truth.

No, 4 x plums and 1 banana during the morning "graze" style.

Going to make some sort of sticky pork for lunch.

More grazing on stuff this afternoon and then tea after weigh in. (which is fair enough)

Eating a "banana" with "plums"? "Sticky pork" at lunchtime? What next, "meat and 2 veg" for tea?

Are you working as a RENT BOY ?

So, Gemmil has now been missing a week, time for a search party.

Has he gone with Alex?

Were they one and the same?

Has Fop taken them both out?

Anyway Gem, 4 and a half pounds off tonight. Unfortunately I was designated Brownie driver so couldnt hand around to rub Bobs nose in it.

And this achievement includes a pub night (3 Grolsch) and a night away at Maften Hall. (4 x Kronnenburgs, Baileys, Cream tea and really good grub).

Have ate really well again this week, just included more veg and more fruit but no salads. :)

Come back Gemex. :(

Good stuff, CT. Hope you keep it up. :good:

Desperately need to get a grip on my own weight/fitness. I don't want to change jobs but I'm starting to realise that working from home really doesn't help. :glare:

So currently at 13-10 and still managed to lose a little this week after a bit of a drunken derby binge fest and a night away with friends.

Tonight was also the first night of our two hour nutritional / exercise class which was very informative and very funny. The nutritional stuff was quite an eye opener and certainly gave me more insight into how much shit is in shit.

The exercise was a 1 hour circuit session. We are talking a circuit session for unfit fuckers and old ladies, not the sort that Dr Gloom does. Even so I was absolutely knackered at the end of it however after getting home I just wanted to do it again.

I didnt have a clue what was going to happen at first so when the guy got us all in a circle, (about 14 large ladies, me and another guy) walked over to his disc player and started up some lively tunes.

I thought "please god no, not Zumba"!!!

Anyway we were all suddenly moving in rhythm putting one foot forward and one foot back whilst doing various things with our arms. Having to concentrate on rhythm, coordinating body parts and not checking out the two gorgeous young nutritionists who had joined in, I thought I was doing great until the wife started sniggering saying I looked like a cross between Mr Been and the weird one off the Inbetweeners!

What goes around comes around.

Part of the circuit was one partner wearing boxing pads and the other wearing boxing gloves and punching the pads. Well didnt our lass start coughing, move her pad covered hand to cover her mouth whilst I was giving it Mike Tyson. Laughed? I nearly pissed myself.

Any way, really looking forward to next weeks sessions.

I was doing box step-ups with weights during the circuit class on Tuesday. Lost concentration and clipped the edge of the box, went arse over tit and scraped my shin bone down the corner of the box leaving a long cut/graze.

Leg looks horrendous and I felt like a prick. Might have to miss footy training tonight, but I was back training today and it was ok.

edit : it actually made me feel old. Iwouldn't have done that a couple of years ago; but the trip coupled with my crows feet wrinkles and the emergence of a few grey hairs made me feel like an old tit.

the thing i've noticed since turning 30 is all the niggles you get. little pulls and stains here seem to crop up all the time. i could train like a beast in my 20s and never get injured.

Yeah, I'm carrying knocks all the time. My ankles been at me for ages. I went to the physio which made it much better, but I reckon I'd need another 2-3 visits to get it fully sorted.

At 50€ a pop, I'll have to just get by for now.

Eating red meat now "lethal".

Red meat is not only unhealthy but can be positively lethal, according to a major US study.

The research shows regularly eating red meat - especially the processed variety - dramatically increases the risk of death from heart disease and cancer.

Each additional daily serving of processed red meat, equivalent to one hot-dog or two rashers of bacon, raised the chances of dying by a fifth.

But the study found that cutting red meat out of the diet led to significant benefits.

Replacing red meat with fish, poultry, or plant-based protein foods contributed to a longer life, the study says.

Nuts were said to reduce the risk of dying by 20% - making a case for swapping roast beef for nut roast.

Data from 121,342 men and women taking part in two large US health and lifestyle investigations were analysed to produce the findings, published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine.

The studies monitored the progress of their participants for more than 20 years and gathered information about diet.

In total, scientists documented 23,926 deaths including 5,910 from heart disease and 9,364 from cancer.

Senior author Professor Frank Hu, from Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, said: "This study provides clear evidence that regular consumption of red meat, especially processed meat, contributes substantially to premature death.

"On the other hand, choosing more healthful sources of protein in place of red meat can confer significant health benefits by reducing chronic disease morbidity (illness) and mortality."

Cancer prevention charity the World Cancer Research Fund recommends that people avoid processed meat entirely and limit their consumption of red meat to 500g a week.

Dr Rachel Thompson, the charity's deputy head of science, said: "This study strengthens the body of evidence which shows a link between red meat and chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. The research itself seems solid and is based on two large-scale cohort studies monitored over a long period of time."

But the findings were challenged by Dr Carrie Ruxton from the Meat Advisory Panel, an expert body funded by the meat industry.

She said: "This US study looked at associations between high intakes of red meat and risk of mortality, finding a positive association between the two. However, the study was observational, not controlled, and so cannot be used to determine cause and effect.

"The authors' conclusion that swapping a portion of red meat for poultry or fish each week may lower mortality risk was based only on a theoretical model. This conflicts with evidence from controlled trials."

Dr Ruxton pointed out that meat and meat products were significant sources of essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, selenium, B vitamins and vitamin D.

In the UK, red meat was "critically important" to zinc intake, contributing 32% of the total for men and 27% for women. Red meat also contributed around 17% of total dietary iron intake in the UK.

Dr Ruxton added: "In summary, this paper should not be used to dissuade people from reducing their current intake of red meat when it provides essential nutrients that are required as part of a healthy balanced diet."
