Guest alex
Plus, you can pay for the gym/classes by selling the nearly-new exercise bike and treadmill on ebay.
The Fish 10674
Don't get me wrong, I'd rather people took up fad diets than just sat on their collective arse in front of Jeremy Kyle, I just think you'd be less disillusioned when this diet inevitably doesn't hold if you just went for the slightly more daunting but guaranteed success of the methods mentioned before. Dr Gloom 21761
So, I think its fair to say I have done all I can. he says, wiping the crumbs from his pie off his lips.
Dr Gloom 21761
So slimming world last night and then gym membership today. An hour long assessment session with a gym instructor followed by a chat with a nutritionist. Tomorrow is the hour long introduction to the gym session. On top of all that I have also signed up for 12 x two hour sessions with the extremely fit and caring young nutritionist. This involves 1 hour a week discussing food followed by a one hour exercise class. I agreed as soon as she said..."this could be anything such as games in the car park". Once she had tricked me however, she did go on to say it could be spinning sessions or cross country running or circuits etc So, I think its fair to say I have done all I can. Slimming world, gym and nutritionist..... Lets see if they just talk a good game or whether they can, rebuild me. Howay man, the only way to lose weight is to do what's been suggested on here by loads of people. Eat healthy and HIIT. Easy as that. Like you admit earlier, these fad diets are fads because they don't work consistently. The only diet that works is to burn off the fuel you take in. I couldnt agree more but they are a way in to a healthier eating routine. That combined with exercise should show significant improvement in health which then inspires you to continue and a healthy diet and keep up an exercise routine. There is a big difference between overweight 40 somethings trying change habits compared to a lot of twenty and thrity somethings who have grown up in a gym age. Its a bit like packing in the fags. You usually have many attempts and then at some point everything falls into place and you eventually quit. This is my version of that. Im hoping that eventually the habit / routine will stick. The bottom line for the record is not healthy eating or exercise, it is will power. Ask any smoker. the bottom line in reality CT is you're the only one that can rebuild you. if you really want it, you'll do it. it's hard work and a change in lifestyle that isn't easy. throwing money at slimming world or weight watchers is not a dream ticket to a better looking and healthier body. that said, a gym membership and consultation with a nutritionist are good moves. not sure that won't be a waste of money either like given how often people on here have already given you all the advice professionals at the gym will give you for free. It's not a case of particularly needing information it's keep trying to break the unhealthy habit.....like smoking. Using the information offered in this thread will help you break the unhealthy habits just as much a trip to slimming world will, probably more. The only difference is on here it's free. It sounds like you lack the willpower to do this off your own back, despite the best intentions. Have you considered a personal trainer? Or going to excercise classes? Having a regularity helps it become a habit then part of your weekly ritual.

Kitman 2204
Good stuff CT. I suspect in your case, music is the key. Get some bouncy 80s stuff like Gloria Estefan or Wham for your work out, you'll be sorted.

Having a regularity helps it become a habit then part of your weekly ritual. Aye, that's what I've started doing this week by signing up for the 12 week exercise nutrition course. Im not dissing (hip) anyone's advice, but its like me telling Parky or Chez to go and buy patches, think of something else to do with their hands, break habits after meals etc.... They will know all this already however they need to physically keep making attempts to quit and hopefully one attempt for whatever reason will work. Strangely, the event that made me quit was my fathers death. Its strange because he drank and smoked all his life and lived a full and active one, raised seven kids, worked all his life and lived til 90!!! (Lucky man) It just made me consider my own mortality and I stopped straight away. I have similar motivations this time so hence why I am throwing everything at this attempt. The wife is also joing in the whole shabang so hopefully we can spur each other on.

I know you think Im taking the piss but these are some great shouts coming out. Actually adding these onto the on screen sticky note doofer as I go along. Was watching an episode of criminal minds the other night and Dr Spencer Reid was telling one of his facts. (I always take it they are true). Anyway, apparently your favourite music is the music you listen to when you are 14. You will go on to listen to new stuff and develop new tastes, but it is the 14 year old stuff that will always do it for you.
