Te Koko Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is very nice but I suppose you know about that. Not one you would drink every day like!

A less expensive and less well known one (in the UK anyway) is Matakana Estate Pinot Gris. Lovely stuff.

The Pinot Noirs I've had have been really nice too.

 

Not sure about te Koko but I've drunk plenty of Cloudy Bay. Marlborough and central otago wines are generally very good. NZ is a little like the opposite of France in that they export their best wines, so it's relatively expensive to drink the really good stuff. That said there's plenty of good wine at reasonable prices here. I tend to drink Pinot noir in winter, in fact I'm drinking a nice hawkes bay Pinot now when I should be going to bed ;)

 

Matakana is about an hour from Auckland, really nice place.

Doing weights 3 days a week, run once a week only about 3 mile, do a days session in the gym as well (30mins HIIT Cardio), take bairn swimming on a Saturday and also squeeze in odd game of squash.

 

Not arsed about loosing weight but I am trying to drop body fat. In June I was 15stone @ 24.7% Body fat and end of July was 14st 12lb @ 23.5% body fat. So Ive burned a few lbs of fat and added a few lbs of lean mass.

 

Current target is to get under 20% and push on from there.

I hate the gym like. Fuck that shit.

 

Unfortunately I'm a greedy bastard and I like to drink. If I didn't do something I'd end up looking like CT. I've never been one for the gym but there's loads in the area where I work so I'm thinking I might go in a couple of lunchtimes a week.

Good for you. Same for me, re: the drink like although I've cut down on the beer and drink wine more these days. Also had a few lifestyle changes (remember those, eh CT? ;) ) which help me keep the weight off. I probably walk somewhere in the region of 25 miles a week for a start.

 

 

How do you do that then? Is it out for hill walking country walks or just a few laps around the moat etc.

I started getting the metro into work a good while back - from my house to the station is about 1/4 mile - 1/3 mile so that's half a mile + there, from the metro to work is another mile so that's two and a half miles already Mon-Friday so that's 12 and a half miles (by a conservative estimate) without even hardly noticing it. I walk the dog twice a day (at least) with longer and more frequent walks at the weekend so that's easily another 10 miles a week on top of that.

 

 

Never took you for a dog person.....more of an evil white fluffy sinister cat person. Who'd have thought. :dances:

I now fluctuate between 11 stone 5 and 11 stone 9 depending on weekend blowouts/drinking etc, once upon a time not too long ago it would between 12.3 to 6. I'm pleased with that, a little more and i'll be happy but happy as it is.

Sorry like, but putting on weight is alot harder then losing weight. Don't know how people can stand being full all the time and not making any attempt at being active. It's the second pre-season in a row I've put on weight, purely down to the fact I've stopped doing excercises in order to recover from all the slight knocks you pick up. Who knows, maybe in 4 preseasons time I'll actually be the build I want. ;)

I put it down mainly to stress, running again and being a little more careful with food as well as my job where I'm on the go. But mainly stress and running. I suppose your appearance depends on your height as well, I'm 5 foot, ten.

Well am only 4 and a half inches taller than you, and am active too, play football, gym, mad 60 mile bike rides. I suppose it's your frame as well, some people have shoulders like a pigeon.

when i was 16-17 aye, boring as fuck tbh i can't stand running now after running for the school for years when i was kid.

 

Did a 7mile stretch of a relay team for the marathon few years back, just as boring, spent my time wondering why the wierdos were standing at side of the road cheering people on they didn't know, especially when it was raining and a bank holiday monday, surely they could've had better plans.

 

I'm totally with you on this. Over long distances I'm really good, but it's just running is so fucking boring.

We used to call a lad at school 'pigeon chest'. He hated it. Good job he never came back with 'Pigeon Shoulders' or I'd have been gutted midly amused. I've always been stocky-ish so losing a bit of weight is an ego boost I suppose.

I've done two half marathons and that was hard, but the training you need to do to get by is nothing like the full race. You really need to be motivated to do it (unless you're not bothered about collapsing part way through a la Jade Goody) and stick with the programme even when you don't fancy it or there's something better to do( which there always is). In my case I love getting out to run and there's loads of great runs around here but after two months or so of running 5 times a week it gets on your tits. I wish I'd done it 20 years ago now when it'd have been a bit easier (mind you, I was into beer, kebabs and smokes so probably not!).

 

However I'm excited about the challenge of doing the race so it's worth it to me. Can see why it would bore the tits off most people though...
