  • 1 month later...

Ok chaps, time for some mid summer honesty. :dances:

After doing well and getting from around 14-5 or whatever it was down to 13-6...... I am now back up to 14-2 :D

Man boobs have returned, double chin is back and trousers are now having the top button left undone.

Havent got the latest health kick into full swing as yet but Im certainly only days away from a full pelt health adjustment.

Hows everyone else doing?????? Steves various deadlines seem to have elapsed and Gemmil no longer seems to scare the young women at the GYM with his lunchtime sweatouts.

Own up chaps. ;)

I stopped going in July cos I kept getting dizzy spells, which I still get to a lesser degree, which I've been told is labyrinthitis (inner ear shit). Going on the treadmill was no fun when I kept feeling like I would fall off though. ;) Anyway, the gym at work then got flooded and isn't opening til next week. Been doing stuff at home, but definitely looking forward to it reopening.

Have put a bit of weight back on, but still around 14.5 at the minute.

Best shape of my life at 30. Weather is ok so I'm running to and from the gym at lunch for boot-camp/spinning classes and weight training. Doing pre-season training as well for a team I may or may not join.

My height remains 5foot 9 though. ;)

Exactly, I'm 33 I only run when I play football these days. Cross trainers and miles of bike work is the way. Never had nee knee problems till abut 18 month ago, never had one injury, but they started coming up like puddings when I was running on concrete, I don't run now apart from football, me sprinting pace has all but gone anyway.

That's because you're about 17 stone or something, isn't it? I'm only 10 stone nothing, my feet barely touch the pavement. :D

Actually its just till beginning of oct and then I'll taper down ahead of the race. Once I've run the thing (hopefully) I'll probably play cricket with a bit of gym work thrown in.

I hate the gym like. Fuck that shit.

Unfortunately I'm a greedy bastard and I like to drink. If I didn't do something I'd end up looking like CT. I've never been one for the gym but there's loads in the area where I work so I'm thinking I might go in a couple of lunchtimes a week.

Good for you. Same for me, re: the drink like although I've cut down on the beer and drink wine more these days. Also had a few lifestyle changes (remember those, eh CT? ;) ) which help me keep the weight off. I probably walk somewhere in the region of 25 miles a week for a start.

Walking's the best exercise (yes I spelt that right). I mainly drink wine these days but will drink a few beers and shorts with workmates to celebrate the end of the week. Swimming is supposed to be really good for you but I don't really enjoy it, which is ironic given I live 5 minutes walk from a decent beach.

Aye, I'll tend to drink beer if I'm out. Btw, I don't think I've had a bad bottle of wine from NZ.

We're spoilt for choice tbh. The whites are particularly good imo, so looking forward to summer :D

Te Koko Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is very nice but I suppose you know about that. Not one you would drink every day like!

A less expensive and less well known one (in the UK anyway) is Matakana Estate Pinot Gris. Lovely stuff.

The Pinot Noirs I've had have been really nice too.

How do you do that then? Is it out for hill walking country walks or just a few laps around the moat etc.

One step at a time CT, one step at a time :D

I started getting the metro into work a good while back - from my house to the station is about 1/4 mile - 1/3 mile so that's half a mile + there, from the metro to work is another mile so that's two and a half miles already Mon-Friday so that's 12 and a half miles (by a conservative estimate) without even hardly noticing it. I walk the dog twice a day (at least) with longer and more frequent walks at the weekend so that's easily another 10 miles a week on top of that.

Not to mention all those treks from the sofa to the fridge and back again. :dances:

I'm happy with my weight at the moment (not trying to lose any more) and still working really hard at the gym 4-5 times a week. I could cut that down a little but over the summer months I consume excessive volumes of cider Fri-Sun each weekend so it's necessary if I want to keep myself in shape. I'm still eating ok through the week which is the main thing. I've been going almost a year now so I'm in the right mindset. My fitness has improved loads anyway and I'm focussing on training for the Great North Run now.
