Guest alex
Ranger needs to be a bit more direct. There was a couple of occasions when he was 1-on-1 with a defender and looked for the lay off. He has the pace to shit it and hit. Maybe its just confidence. I still see potential in him but needs look at his stud choice more carefully ! I think if we're going to play two upfront he's the best partner we have for Carroll but he, like Vukcic, doesn't seem to get a look on unless it's the league cup. Fwiw I thought we did well first half after weathering the storm at the start. Terrible error by Krul for the goal and a shocking decision to allow the 2nd goal and our side were never going to come back against that Arsenal side. The last two by them are purel down to our chasing the game. All in all a bad result but not a terrible performance by any means.

Their second was a disgrace, apparently it's OK for a player in an offside position to impede our defenders. After that we were never going to recover. I think Williamson made a meal of it (don't blame him btw) but he was still partially blocked by the player, therefore Bentner was interfering with play, surely (the view from the opposite end of the ground clearly showed that). I.e. it doesn't even have to be a foul for that to be the case. Thought Walcott might have been offside anyway, but I can accept a marginal decision like that. I was sat in the milburn in line with it and haven't seen a replay. Just as it happened it looked like he stuck his arm out to make sure he got a contact and the arsenal lad made no movement towards him at all. If Williamson would have had to run around him to get back it shouldn't have stood, just looked to me like he had a straight line back but knew he never had the pace so changed the angle of his run to make the interference seem worse than it was. Either way though, like I was saying in the Platini thread, I think offside should be offside, none of this interfering with play shit.
Happy Face 29
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00vm...how_27_10_2010/ The goal's 8 minutes in and I was being too kind, it is pretty blatant. He's walking away from play slowly and then he runs to catch the defender. Edited October 28, 2010 by Happy Face
Happy Face 29
I liked Coloccini's quote in last night's program about his goal against Wigan.... "It was special because it was my first goal at St. James' Park and because i was captain for the game, but also because the day after the game was mother's day in Argentina" He loves his ma! He loves his ma!
sweetleftpeg 0
Outclassed, but the goals we conceeded were shite. If you're going to play negative, then you've got to be physical. We stood off them a bit too much but then again they were quick and zipped it around nicely like I thought they would. My mate I went with was scatty that we made 9 changes but did anyone expect anything else? Only complaint I have is that we should have gone out with a positive formation..we got stuffed anyway..we may as well have got stuffed having more of a go. Thought there Centre Halfs were a little bit dodgy to be honest.
