Deano 0
Some of you on here are really negative chaps arent you? Saying after 8 games we will get relegated....ffs theres another 30 games to go and we have already seen that we can beat top teams i.e villa and everton. We battled for a point away to wolves which isnt an easy place to go, we battled and were done out of 1 or 3 points away to man citeh. I understand the main point of concern and its this that has some joining to doom and gloom brigade, and thats the home form. One win, one draw and 2 losses at home is relegation form i agree, but, there is alot of minutes to play and im confident we will pick it up again at St James Park. Have faith man. We dont have a fantastic squad but we do have a GOOD squad. I think if CH can be a little more offensive in his tactics then we can stay up and comfortably. Happy Face 29
It's a month later in the season than this poll.... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...egated&st=0 And the consensus was spot on then. The only top teams we've played are Man U and Man City yet we're still below the mackems who've played Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Spurs, West Brom and Barcelona and have hardly won on the road in something like 624 games. Deano 0
I just dont think that a negative attitude is going to help things much. What happened to keep the faith? If 52k turned up every week thinking where going to get beat then that will filter through to the players. Why not just be positive? Read 'the secret' man. Tbh and shoot me down if you like but i think this is a decent decision...No he may not be a world beater or massive name but come on guys we were never gonna get someone in with a massive reputation on a short term basis.Im encouraged by this...he will provide help for Hughten and coaching staff and hold the fort for 6 games. He seems to think the takeover will be done in next few weeks which is good news, and secondly thinks that with the new owners KK and wor Al will come in. All in all im pleased with this news. Were playing a team who are currently bottom of the leauge, only two points between us. What is there to be optimistic about? A single point in three home games, and were the only newly promoted team not to be in the top ten, worrying.

Guest alex
GL, I appreciate you want to be optimistic and have no problem with that. Where I think you're incorrect is suggesting people being more realistic or pessimistic (or however you want to phrase it) on here is going to be of any real detriment to the side. Being wildly or mildly optimistic isn't going to help the side either. And it's all well saying 52k should turn up and cheer the lads on but that's not really going to happen at the minute, is it? The crowd can help the team but 9 times out of 10 it's the performance that fires the crowd up. That's just the way it works. Your argument's pretty facile if I'm being honest and it smacks of blaming the fans for the teams shortcomings.

If the fans cheered them on from the start, when where behind, when things arent going great, then surely thats going to have a better effect than jeering? Works both ways no? And finally, im actually quite insulted...to say that im implying its the fans are resonsible for the teams short comings is complete and utter bollox mate. Our short comings have been down to poor individual perfomances and even more so, poor tactics at home.

However i have said that there is a more and more increasing number of people on here and in the stands who are pessimistic. It serves no purpose. Realistic = We have had a poor start at home but its early days and should stay up albeit a battle. Pessimistic = We are fucked, we are fucked, we will get relegated, we are fucked. JawD 99
As alex suggests, it usually takes a spark in a game to get the crowd going. A strong tackle, good shot on goal, something that shows the side are committed. At the moment there are not many sparks. I'd not put myself in the doom mongers camp, but things are increasingly stacking against us and we need to start improving our ratio or we will be in the bottom 3 by Xmas and that will have a massive knock on confidence. Players and fans.

TheMoog 0
To be fair I think we've played better than the table shows, we were extremely unlucky to not have won at least two of the games we lost and that was down to very bad reffing decisions. We've been playing alright so far this season and I'm sure there's three teams worse than us in the league. ... just hope I'm right and we manage to avoid relegation again - we really are better than that.
