Kid Dynamite 7318
What a shambles this is. First a footbridge collapses the injured get taken to this delightful local hospital Then a stadium roof caves in today. Notice the lack of safety equipment on the workers 10 days til the games start, no wonder countries are starting to pull out their athletes
JawD 99
Can see this getting cancelled. Ther is fear of disease now with the flood waters near the athletes village.
Acid 0
Also the accomodation and facilities have been described as horrendous. Inevitable cancellation.

Only thing that's made me laugh today. Sheila Dikshit ahahahaha if she has a son who was a footballer he'd be a headline writers dream. We shouldn't be having games in these third world countries, the cross over is too big, security risks too big, the whole thing is a sham.
Kid Dynamite 7318
Whilst its not the most advanced country, I wouldn't class India as third world. Although I'm sure you already knew that.
Tom 14021
India is an undeveloped nation non the less and I imagine large parts of India would be deemed ''third world''.

The average wage is less than £1,000 p/a, and 50m people every year are malnurished some even starve to death, whether you accept it or not it is at best a developing third world country. But along with China, India has very little debt iirc and it might take another 20/30years, but they will get there regarding evening out the poverty a bit more across the country. The real problem is that vast swathes of it (it's the size of Europe) are still virtually agrarian/farm based micro-cultures. The commonwealth games stuff looks terrible though, probably don't take it as seriously as cricket.

And our government has seen fit to give them £1.5bn in aid over the last 5 years. The cheeky fuckers are still deciding whether to accept the latest installment, I'd like to tell them to get fucked. Edit: And aye, it's a shithole, though apparently I was in one of the worse cities. Edited September 23, 2010 by ewerk

There is a real paranoia about China in India - imagine living next door to China who in a conventional war would flatten any army on earth. Yes by sheer numbers, but if you had 50 of the hardest armed forces from 30 of the biggest militaries in the world in a field fighting to the death. There'd be 10 men standing at the end and they'd all be SAS.
