Barney 0
About time! He's full of talk about what a great player he is. Nice to see him out of trouble and really influencing us on the pitch.
JawD 99
Stood up during the Wolves game and didnt let them get to him. Was well impressed with him in the Villa game but though he was shite against Blackpool. Didnt see enough of the Everton game to judge. Id have hiom before Nolan and smith though in midfield. Papa Lazaru 0
Barton is showing what i thought he would, that he's a good player, when he isn't injured pre-season, suspended for ages or just out of jail! This is the first time we've seen him with a full pre-season under his belt and a run of games following that, although i saw a quote from Hughton somewhere that he's carrying a bit of an injury even now and still playing well. He'd done my head in for most of his time here but i always said when fit, available and after a proper pre-season, we'd see what he's made of and so far so good. You can't fault him this season really, against manu he was one of the few midfielders who tried to maike soemthing happen, it just didn't come off, but he was comfortably better than Smith or Nolan off Carroll. Against Villa he was impressive and started the whole win off, and at Wolves he not only played well but kept his head when most people would have smashed Henry's face in for him. Blackpool he was poor first half, ok second but his set pieces remained impressive which they have been every game. And by the sounds of it he was immense against Everton, long may it continue. OTF 7583
Wouldn't go that far Christmas tree. He's had a good start to the season, but still has a long long way to go to pay off the shit he's put the club through. He was very good against Everton, having someone like Tiote operating behind him gave him more freedom. Fed an inch perfect pass through to Nolan which should have resulted in a penalty when Nolan was brought down by Coleman from behind without touching the ball. Long may his good form continue. I think his personal frustrations about not having played enough of late contributed to some of the brash challenges he made on the field, with a full pre-season and a solid start to the season hopefully we don't see him doing anything too foolish on the pitch, as that would be the most likely reason for an end to his good run. tinofbeans 91
reckon this will be a good season for him. still runs like he's trudging through treacle. will not be our player of the season.
Dr Gloom 22215
he has looked much sharper so far this season. still has it all to prove mind. he's been hopeless for us up until these last few games. so he needs to keep it up on the pitch and stay out of trouble off it before he wins us all over. Guest Tuco Ramirez
I've been impressed with his form, but needs two really good seasons before I give him any praise. He's still a cunt, "I'll be an Evertonian till I die.", why say that? Why? Shows how little the toon are in his heart. Most succesful players here end up supporting the club for life, we're not just a paycheck for our best players.
Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
As has been echoed, good form but he's still a twat for his behavior here. It's hard to like a guy who constantly refers to himself in the third person as well, "Joey Barton knows that Joey Barton is good enough for England, only Joey Barton can show it now," etc etc

He's a wrongun, I hope we sell him if we get £6m for him to be honest.
tinofbeans 91
need to replace him first. when he's on form he is STILL our best creative midfielder through the middle. would work well with tiote, by the looks of it. agree that he is a twat, if you look at his family tree aren't over half his family inside or something like that? Like i said before if we replace him, then yes i'd be happy to see him go.

sniffer 0
Like they said about Keane, he's a twat but he's our twat. You should be getting behind Barton now that he's playing well. The potential of a Barton, Tiote and Arfa with a player that actually has some end product, which we don't seem to have as yet, would be the best midfield we've had for a long time. Norbert Colon 0
I think you would be hard pushed to find comparable quality for 6mill when Bartons playing well - has been great so far and I hope he keeps it up and stays with us for a long time - everybody deserves a chance to right their wrongs and maybe he is just a retarded chav who happens to be good at football, people can change - have you never seen 'Educating Rita'? Christmas Tree 4866
on course for player of the season Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes Joey Barton is heading for the club's player of the year award. Barton was in the thick of the action as usual on Sunday as the Magpies overcame Wigan 1-0 at the DW Stadium. The midfielder frequently created a menace with his deliveries into the box and also had a hand in Shola Ameobi's first-half winner - but courted controversy late on when he picked up a yellow card for a rash challenge on James McArthur. Pardew saw that as sufficient punishment for a tackle he was convinced bore no malice, and the manager was keen to stress how impressed he has been with Barton, both in terms of attitude and performance. "I thought it was a tough challenge, a typical Joey challenge, but I didn't think there was anything malicious in it - the yellow card was the correct decision," said Pardew, who was overseeing his fourth game in charge since succeeding Chris Hughton last month. "I think Joey is aware that he carries that baggage from earlier in his career, but you are talking about a guy who has shown nothing but professionalism since I have been here. "He has been excellent, not just on the pitch but off it as well. "I take people as they find them and I think if he can continue in this vein of form, he could be Newcastle's player of the year. He has been brilliant this season." Theres those who talk and those who Know (Watch the fucker end up at Villa tomorrow)
jaythesouthernmag 0
Playing the best he has in years and is a huge part of the team, not just his deliveries but his influence too. Would look into getting him signed up for another 2 seasons if I were Pards
