Don't know if this has been posted, but there's a programme about Byker on now, then another couple of programmes from 9 to half 10.

BBC4 right now.

Was canny actually. Caught the one from 9pm and the one after (shame he had a teeside accent like).

Missed the first one, but the second & third were very enjoyable. He did sound like he was from Stockton or Hartlepool like.

It wasnt just a dodgy accent he had, there was an affected drawl to it that i reckon he thought made him sound more poetic or something.

I got quite emotional watching it though (depite his odd voice), I especially liked his analysis of the geordie character reflecting the geography and sociology of the border (between england and scotland and nordic countries). Border people meet lots of foreigners and strangers so are both ready to defend against foes but as quick to welcome friends. Lot of truth in that.

With our city being subject to invasions by the Normans and the Vikings i thought it was nice to reflect that me and wor kid have been reversing the trend in recent years.
