tying to sell my flat and was advised by my esate agent to renew or serve notcie on my lease, which has just fallen below 80 years.

the freeholder's management company just sent me a letter saying it'll cost £20k to extend it to 99 years.

anyone been through this before? is this quote an utter pissatke? i knew i'd pay a premium because of the marriage value thing but never expected this much. the agent said it'd be around £10-15k.

i don't get how they get away with it. your basically forced to shell out a small fortune to someone that does fuck all for the property. should be made illegal if you ask me.
