asked about him on a Dutch forum......as to if he"s any good etc

To answer your question: he's a brilliant player. Extremely physically strong and remarkably technically gifted for a man with the build of a wrestler. He's only got one problem: discipline. He's always got a moment in a game where he loses it. Definitely good enough for the premiership though.

Fer is actually a potential candidate for replacing Tiote at Twente! Mind you Feyenoord are in dire financial straits, Twente is not. Twente can afford to hold out for a good offer for Tiote, Feyenoord probably can't for Fer.

You can't really compare Fer and Tiote mind. Tiote is more of a physical midfielder, Fer is more the creative goalscoring type.

From a Twente fan, he also said this though:

Well you've got to pay what Twente wants for him first! Our chairman has a bit of reputation in terms of transfer negotiations. You''ll have to pay full whack (6-8 million) and you have to pay it in one go rather than in annual installments (clubs have tried that with us at which our chairman said: Who do they think we are? A bank?")

Just because he is not a token signin leazes dont mean he isnt quality!

Lighten up fella...we are spendin money albeit modestly...but in a way...if we stay up and i think we will, then its a clever bit of business although pretty risky!

Parky says hit.

I think he has everything to be a good signing in this case. Bit of a temper but that's about it. We've actually gone and signed a player we desperately needed a dynamic midflielder with a good engine and can pass. He can play a defensive role, has presence and can break up the opposition. There are mostly good things said about him in Holland.

Have we actually signed him though? Doesn't seem to fit our target market of a mediocre player bought on the cheap.....

There is no point in being down about every signing really. From what I've heard this is a good player and our lot need to be congratulated for that. Players nobody has heard of regualarly join PL clubs and a season later are seen as clever business, that shouldn't really be a point of criticism. We've signed some shit of late, but IMO this lad isn't one of them.

I'm keeping my powder dry till the window closes and if we've been negligent I'll say so.

This is one of the 3 players we really needed.

IF we get a creative mf/forward and a decent striker, then for me all the minimum boxes will have been ticked.

But has he signed? If he's as good as the say, I'd be amazed if we get him for only 3.5m. Actually I'll be amazed if we spend 3.5m but that's another story :)

yep. He may have certain attributes that we need, but at the end of the day, its quality that counts.

Aye, Leazes prefers his defensive midfielders in the aging Nicky Butt type mould, rather than the up and coming Carrick type.

Christ, not another one. Please keep your idiotic bickering to the tens of threads you have already derailed. This one is actually about a player we might get so I can't ignore it.

done some youtube scouting on him, looks like a battler with a good engine and capable of getting forward thanks to that

just what we need as long as he can make the jump to PL standard

Hopefully he'll be signed-up before Wolves next weekend.

I'm waiting to be amazed but I have very little confidence in Houghton's ability to spot a good player.

Let's put it this way...he can run with the ball at his feet for more than two meters, so he is already far ahead of current crop of CM's.

Williamson and Routledge were good signings IMO.
