Guest Tuco Ramirez
1989 Leeds United (h) 5-2 (1-2) Division Two Quinn 4, Gallacher Davison, Baird 24,396 Former Mags Hendrie, Baird & Haddock returned to SJP, while David Batty would come here via Blackburn. For the home side Kevin Dillon, Wayne Fereday, John Gallacher and Mark McGhee (for the second time) made their entrance. However, the day belonged to four goal debutant Mickey Quinn, who emulated Malcolm McDonald by opening his United account with a penalty at the Gallowgate End but then went on to better his three goal haul. The small attendance was due to an organised boycott by the "Supporters For Change" group, who were protesting at the mismanagement of the club by the United Directors. They gathered in various pubs and clubs and watched reruns of old United games on video. Remember it like it really was yesterday. Lush sunny day, ginger spastics slagging us off for going in the ground. The bit I've bolded, I wonder what they thought supping their mcewan's lager in pubs round town when they heard we'd beaten Leeds 5-2.
