Actually sounds interesting. I was interested in stuff like that about 2 years ago but moved more onto computing and all that.

Did a games programming course for 12 weeks at the start of the year.. i think i got some sort of qualification out of it?

... Kevin, seriously, it sounds like you were into Games Design like kids get into Pokemon for a year or so and it doesn't seem like you're that into computing.

Exactly, it may sound like it but you have no idea of what interests i have.

I'm actually going to take apart my ps3 tonight so i can get in at the blu ray drive and try and clean it out. I know what im doing like. Then i'm gonna do the same with my computer or laptop to see which parts go where etc. learn as i go.

no offence kevin, but you thought a hard drive was a blu ray drive just yesterday, please dont attempt this

It's the first time I seen a hard drive, it looks like a disc would go in it. I was watching loads of videos on youtube. My PS3's broke anyway, I'm getting a new one when i get paid, nothing to lose.

Bye bye Kevin's PS3.

Seriously - you didn't know the difference between a blu-ray drive and a hard drive when you were linked to one.

Despite a) there being a picture of what was clearly a HDD, and B) the words 'hard disc drive' being in the Amazon listing for it.

Good luck and all.

edit; or what the above poster said

okay then i wont do it ;) Even though my ps3 is already broke and im getting a new one.

If it's fucked then give Sony a call.

£150 to fix it, £200 for a new one. May aswell get the new one.

I just thought seeing as i had nothing to lose i may aswell of given it a go, clearly not.

yeah, once you're done dismantling your PS3, why not give open-heart surgery a go. ;)

know anyone with a heart condition that has nothing to lose?

if he's up for it then, why not.

but no, it looks rather simple the inside of a ps3.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to do though. It doesn't work, right? So even if you just took apart and put it back together, you'd have no idea if it you put it back in the right way, because it still wouldn't work.

I'm all for having a go at things, but I'd try something simpler, that already works

learn a bit, Ive done it loads

find out what stuff looks like, how it fits in with everything else

besides if you dont care about voiding the warranty, which he doesnt since its broke then replaced a bluray drive should be really easy as long as you buy the right one

Aye I sacked the idea. My brother knows a boy who fixes them and he reckons that the lense on it just needs cleaned, so i'll see if my bro can drop it up to him soon. I'll upgrade my ram myself, then have a go at bigger things when i get the money.

anyway.. back to alevels ;)

Just took off the wee panel that covers the RAM. Does it just clip out aye? I'd be afraid to pull it incase it snapped or something

everything you need for it should be here

I like the website ;)

Nah it's the laptop RAM, i'm looking to upgrade it to 3Gb (already have 1gb).

This is the part I need

you need to pair your ram equally so you either need to go to 2gb(with 2 1gbs) or 4gb(with 2 2gbs)

once again, googling will yield what you need

Don't forget to use a wire brush, otherwise you'll never get the lense clean.

ground yourself, best way is to strip down to your pants, and wear marigolds. Meenzer is the best man to talk you this procedure, so Skype him or something.
