shackbleep 0
Exeter City have announced that striker Adam Stansfield has died of cancer at the age of 31. Stansfield was diagnosed with bowel cancer following a series of tests for an abdominal complaint in April, after being admitted to hospital in March. Stansfield, who also played for Yeovil and Hereford, scored seven goals in 19 appearances for Exeter last season. The club made a short statement on its website after a 3-2 Carling Cup defeat at home against Ipswich on Tuesday. Stansfield joined Hereford on a free transfer in 2004 and two years later moved on to Exeter, where he made more than 150 first-team appearances, scoring 39 goals.
