Happy Face 29
Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster has pulled out of the England squad to face Hungary with a back injury. Watford keeper Scott Loach and Blackburn reserve Frankie Fielding have been called up as cover. Harper must have really pissed off someone in the FA. Am I missing something blatant? Did Harper retire?
shackbleep 0
Harper isn't good enough for England in my mind. I have my reservations that he's good enough for NUFC to tell the truth. Haven't seen either of these two play so can't comment on their inclusion.
khay 10
Clearly part of the new look England set up rather than anything. Harper clearly won't play any part in the Euro's so no point in getting called up.
Happy Face 29
Actually thinking it through I guess he's 35 and Capello is looking to the future. A 40 year old was just our first choice keeper in the world cup though. I was just astounded that the best we can do is a championship goalie and a Blackburn reserve without an appearance to his name. shackbleep 0
A 40 year old who by all rights should still be our first choice. I do fear that the FA have listened to the press too much and ordered Capello to pick youth. We should be picking the best team available, not necessarily the youngest. Capello, like most decent managers, wouldn't be told what to do.

Gejon 2
If Capello is looking to the future I wonder if Forster came into consideration, surely his excellent stint at Norwich is worth more than a year in a premier league teams reserves? I'd hazard a guess that his form and confidence suffered a bit with them going down last year. No idea though, tbh.

That Joe Louis signed for Liverpool during WWII. It's a crying shame that the country that produced Banks, Shilton, Clemence and Seaman has to make do with an ageing James in the World Cup. begs the question why there's no-one good enough playing in the Prem to step up (ability to hold onto a ball hit straight at you being a core requirement). TicTacWoe 0
It's not like he had to pick Loach and Fielding, I mean surely the likes of Kirkland, Carson, James, Green etc could have filled in for the injured/retired keepers but Capello's obviously trying to make a point and give the impression that there's been a complete revolution. Kitman 2204
Reminds me of that scene from Mike Bassett Football Manager where he picks Benson and Hedges from the lower leagues for England, because he writes his squad on the back of a fag packet.... Kitman 2204
I love that film. The scene where's he's pissed up & dancing on the bar's my favourite. Apparently they wrote a sequel but the funding fell through.
