will barton come good this season?

the main reason i'm putting this out there is i'm putting together one of those online fantasy football teams. unsurprisingly, our lot offer good value for money. i was thinking of putting in routeledge - a steal at £4.5m - as i'm guessing he'll play most of our games. but it wouldn't surprise me if barton starts, and on last night's evidence maybe takes pens too.

so what's the consensus? will barton finally do something this season?

and who would you go for in a fantasy football side ? roteledge or barton? they're both the same price

whoops. just realised this is in the wrong forum

I took Barton and have him as a sub for that reason- on the off chance he really does turn up, at 4.5 he's a relative bargain. If not, no harm.

I tell ya who I thought could be a real sleeper is Jose Enrique at 4.5. I grabbed him up with the way that defense scores points in fantasy. That could be a better risky bet than Barton, IMO.

EDIT: American Mag and Tooner- disregard please! :D

it doesnt matter, GC or the NUFC forum, he still wont come good

that's what i was thiking.

but for fantasy football, which one would you pick? i personally would rather see routledge play more games than barton but i suspect braton will be a regular (if fit) plus he might be our pen taker.

I picked routledge, hes my sub midfielder

think he'll play more and get the odd goal and more assists based on his ability to find a good throughball more than anyone else we have

isn't it all to do with clean sheets and goals and assists? we surely won't keep many clean sheets and jose has only got one goal in 3 seasons iirc.

what else do they get points for? i assume you're in the official online premier league game...

Yeah. I'm in the official one. You really don't think we'll keep many clean sheets this season? Obviously it's unlikely we will against good teams, but against WBA, Stoke, etc.? When playing at home? Again- not a sure thing by any stretch, but for 4.5? I'll take a chance putting Enrique on the bench. He's got offensive potential too.

i'm taking a punt on blackpool's adam and ethrington of stoke (both pen takers)

my midfield is looking pretty gash tbh but how else do you fit lampard, droga, terry and rooney in the side?

last year i went for fewer top draw players and a bigger number of good to average ones and got pummeled. this year i'm going for 4 big name players that (i hope) will get the steady big points and am filling the rest of the slots up with bargain basement offerings.

This is my first year for fantasy football and as you probably guessed, American Mag and Tooner are part of the league, so I don't want to comment too much. I've done various fantasy sports for a long time, but never football. In general though, you're on the right track- counter intuitive as it might seem, you're generally better off having several superstars and the rest of the roster be filler than having a lot of decent guys at all positions. Sounds like you had the same experience last season!
