If you asked 10 chinese 10 indians 10 nigerians and 10 chileans to name 10 English and 10 American cities, you all know for a fact they'd be able to name 10 English ones easier than 10 yank ones.

Chances are if they named 10 English cities or towns, they'd simultaneously name 10 US ones.

You're wrong but if you want to carry out the research then feel free.

You're utterly wrong. What do people know about America? Fuck all.

The Premiership alone will make many people aware of English places.

Culturally we piss all over them. British music must account for 75% of the best songs ever made for example, even the yanks would admit that.

World famous US cities would include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, Seattle, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia - there's probably more.

World famous UK cities would include London. Possibly Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh but I'm not sure. With the exception of London they are much smaller than the US cities listed.

Imo.

Agree (to some extent) about football and music but do you think the rest of the world accepts that as an indicator for the country's significance? America has a much bigger global cultural impact anyway when you consider Hollywood and fast food restaurants. Unfortunately I might add.

Name the 10 world famous UK cities then. And don't be daft enough to put in Newcastle.

75%? That's a big call.

The two most "critically" influential releases of last century, Sergeant Peppers and Pet Sounds come from either side of the Atlantic and it was only in response to the Beach Boys that the Beatles pushed themselves to new heights.

Oh dear again, if you asked any foreign cunt to name 10 British cities we'd probably be about 6th on the list. You have no grasp of the British influence around the world do you, was hit home to me walking round Thailand in my toon top, having 20 different people saying "Aran Sheela" to me.

In order: London Edinburgh Glasgow Manchester Liverpool Birmingham Newcastle Leeds Nottingham Cardiff. I mean look at your list world famous yank cities, I thought Atlanta was in Italy, that's how famous it is.

Fucking hell, there is more chance of "foreigners" calling Arsenal a city than the ones in bold being named.

And the average foreigner would have Dublin in their list because they wouldn't quite know that Eire is not part of England.

Well your first five concurred with mine but we'll agree to disagree if you think that because we once had a semi-successful football club and Alan Shearer played for us that makes us a more recognised city than Seattle.

Btw, I've just done a google fight, and Atlanta gets five times as many hits as Newcastle (despite there being about a dozen Newcastles in the world).

Stevie likes a bit of Phil Collins iirc so I think we can draw a line under that one.

:D Or it illustrates how much of an idiot you are.

You openly admit to disliking American culture and not watching American TV, however, that's at odds with most of the rest of the world. You can forget your historical shite, as it stands, the USA is by far the better known and more powerful nation, it's not even debatable.

Just a reminder to Stevie that Atlanta held the 1996 Olympics. Not anywhere near as important as Newcastle though. :suicide:

Course we're more famous than Seattle, I thought it was in fuckin Canada, Newcastle Brown Ale is one of the world's favourite drinks, and again you have no concept of the British influence worldwide. People know the toon.

Utter utter bollocks. See our nations capital, it's visited by double the amount of tourists to that of NY, and four times the next city.

Again, fucking hell!

Seattle is home to the 2nd biggest change in commercial music since the recorded format hit the shelves, how the fuck can you think it was in Canada? :suicide:

Well in that case Lynchburg, Tennessee, must be one of the world's top cities as well. You seem to be confusing the fact that you know nothing/little about American geography with it being a common thing.

It doesn't matter if people know these places because of TV (Seattle/Frasier) or though major events (Houston/space launch) they're going to be better known than places like Leeds and Nottingham.

Hi everyone. Exeter City fan here so be gentle with me.

Thanks to Tom for giving me permission to post a quick heads-up about my newish football blog.

It's mostly humorous pieces with the odd longer article. Plus the occasional ramblings about music or anything else that springs to mind.

The blog's at Early Bath Football Blog. If you felt inclined to poke your head in and tell me I'm awesome/misinformed/an idiot then that would be nice.

Thanks. Over and out

Not bad mate, am not sure i like the formatting but thats quite a personal thing. A few suggestions for improvement.

I think you need a sumnmary position on the declaration of independence and geo-political influences on western development over the period. Without this, as i think you can tell, you risk not just alienating a large proportion of your potential readership. At best they will be confused on this issue.

Might i also suggest a top 10 albums of all time list by country? Maybe you could invent a scoring system that ranks and compares each country's musical output since lets say 1960. I think you can guess which way the result should go.

Finally, i'd love to see a Best of British section along the lines of '100 reasons i'm glad i was born here', you can add in a few funny ones, to keep it light-hearted.

Best of luck mate, as you can tell Toontastic is a tough crowd, if your politics arent in line with ours then you wont be getting mad hits.
