Hi everyone. Exeter City fan here so be gentle with me.

Thanks to Tom for giving me permission to post a quick heads-up about my newish football blog.

It's mostly humorous pieces with the odd longer article. Plus the occasional ramblings about music or anything else that springs to mind.

The blog's at Early Bath Football Blog. If you felt inclined to poke your head in and tell me I'm awesome/misinformed/an idiot then that would be nice.

Thanks. Over and out

One of the stats on your site. Number of news website visits on the first day of the WC 12m, when Abbama was made prime minister of the USA 8m.

Why's that surprising?? No one is interested in America, honestly I could name 20 cities in any country in Europe, I'd be lucky if I could name 10 yank ones. People think America is an important force in world culture, no one cares or notices them, no one I know anyway.

In a lot of cases they are ignorant of of foreign countries. But the USA is a much more important country than England on the world stage.

Based on what? We're the most famous country in the world imo. They were our country, historically it's like comparing the Houses of Parliament to the Cellnet Riverside Stadium. The world speaks our language, had adopted our culture (more than yank culture imo), we've played bigger roles than them in TWO world wars, they're a bigger country than us with a larger population so fuck.

This is one of those occasions where your opinion/bias clouds your judgement though. It's not even a matter for serious debate ffs.

I didn't mention anything about history. I said that they're a more important country on the world stage. You survey a million people around the globe and ask them to name the British PM and the American president and I guarantee you that at least twice as many know of Obama. The UK is largely done as a world force.

No chance. I remember watching that Piers Morgan thing about Shanghai, and he went round showing pictures of British and American famous people. All of the Chinese knew the names of the British, but they were shown pics of people like Paris Hilton and Ronnie Regan and they were like "me no no", summed it up for me.

The Uk is largely done as a world force :D the 5th biggest economy on earth, with a history second to none.

All of it spoken like a true Irishman well done.

The the said it best:

Beneath the old iron bridges, across the victorian parks,

& all the frightened people running home before dark,

Past the Saturday morning cinema--

that lies crumbling to the ground,

& the piss stinking shopping centre in the new side of town.

I've come to smell the seasons change, & watch the city,

as the sun goes down again.

CHORUS

Here comes another winter, of long shadows & high hopes,

Here comes another winter, waitin for utopia,

waitin for hell to freeze over.

This is the land, where nothing changes,

the land of red buses & blue blooded babies,

This is the place, where pensioners are raped,

& the hearts are being cut, from the welfare state,

Let the poor drink the milk, while the rich eat the honey,

Let the bums count their blessings, while they count the money.

So many people, can't express what's on their minds,

Nobody knows them & nobody ever will,

Until their backs are broken & their dreams are stolen,

& they can't get what they want, then they're gonna get angry!

Well it ain't written in the papers, but its written on the walls

The way this country is divided to fall,

So the cranes are moving on the skyline--

Trying to knock down--this town

But the stains on the heartland, can never be removed,

from this country, that's sick, sad, and confused.

CHORUS

The ammunition's being passed, and the lords been praised,

But the wars on the televisions will never be explained,

All the bankers gettin sweaty, beneath their white collars,

As the pound in our pocket, turns into a dollar.

This is the 51st state--of the U. S. A.

Within five years we'll be down to 8th. My point is that the UK no longer has the power that it did during the last century. The way Cameron is over in India touting for business is testament to that, India are now the master and they're leaning towards the USA rather than the UK.

He's practically bending over for the turks as well. In 20 years time we will be down to 27th. :suicide:

If you asked 10 chinese 10 indians 10 nigerians and 10 chileans to name 10 English and 10 American cities, you all know for a fact they'd be able to name 10 English ones easier than 10 yank ones.

You're wrong but if you want to carry out the research then feel free.
