Well, the idea of the thread was just to stick owt up not confined to the NE. If its a themed pic it could just be titled as such so people can see that? Wouldnt want it to be "only" themed shots as that is just as restrictive.

Can we also have a limit on the use of photoshop/retouching?

I don't like to use it a lot myself but I think it's a bit daft setting limits on something which is just a bit of fun. Digital photography is as much about editing as anything else after all (even if I prefer a more 'natural' shot). I think it should be a case of anything goes (within the bounds of good taste, obviously :D ).

I have no problem with "others" shooting digital.

And Pud, an SLR digital or not, how uncouth! :icon_lol:

Jaw D, I reckon you should edit the opening post with a sub-title like:

"Fortnight beginning 02/08/2010 - XXXXXXXXX"*

and we'll be off rather than talking about it.

You can keep editing the sub-title so people know the craic.

:icon_lol:

*This is not to say the subject should be extreme porn, just a blank space for a real topic.

What do you shoot with? If you don't mind my asking, Steven. And save the smut you lot!

Besides the fact most of them will be wondering who you are referring to marra, the current kit has, which should be said cost me a fraction of what they were new because no one wants film cameras anymore:

35mm rangefinder:

Konica Hexar RF with 28mm, 50mm & 90mm lenses.

Voigtlander Bessa L with 15mm lens.

Fujica ga645 120 film 6 x 4.5 rangefinder, which is great for portrait stuff.

The family digital is the lass's olympus 1030sw.

Which is great for this stuff:

I know it sounds like a wank but the thing that got me into rangefinder cameras was that famous shot of Che Guevara, which was shot on a Leica M2 by a Alberto Korda.

I'm also in the process of building a 120, 6 x 17 panoramic camera with a mate who is a specialist machinist hopefully for under $1000.

Nice equipment. I bet you don't hear that compliment too often :D

Btw, I was looking at one of those Olympus ones myself with it being shockproof, waterproof etc. Got a good review in the Sunday Times and is reasonably priced.

Every night but as you know the lass is a wizz at pinball.

The only problem with the Olympus is it's only a 3X optical lens but that's the price you pay for it being waterproof/shock proof, etc.

I was using it recently for a recce 1000m underground in a gold mine and it worked a treat.

Plus at 10 megapixels I can enlarge pics like this to A3.

again though if that had been shot in digital he could have had a haircut, shave and tie added.

How about a new forum for the photography stuff where we can have a different thread for each theme. That way people can continue to post stuff to previous themes without throwing the thread.

Then we can leave this thread here and continue to post other images (or even some from the themed threads) in it.

Sounds brilliant. Was going to suggest something of the sort, as it could get a little confusing having some themed images and some not in the same thread. There should be a rule created where you can only post a new image if you are starting the post with some sort of comment on one of the previous pictures, as well as a brief description of how you got the snap as was suggested. I know we are all at a different level of experience, and so we can't expect everyone to leave an overly constructive comment on pictures, but I'm sure even something like "I like the colours in that, they work really well!" would be appreciated.
