Toonpack 9112
Skilful player smashed by thug, almost as old a story as Adam and Eve. Fucking gutted, he could have been the difference between a consolidating, exciting season or another relegation battle. Hopefully there's enough in the team to keep us going. Optimism waned somewhat lately. Strange thing is, I don't remember so many broken legs when they kicked fucking lumps out of each other in the 70's, must be that they're faster and fitter now and the collision impact is greater, the pitches are different an all. That said, as it's REALLY difficult to prove "intent" for the De Jongs of the world, if it was up to me, any player who injures another in a tackle should be suspended for the same length of time that the other player is out. I accept that'd get some genuine "accidents" involved but it'd soon cut ot the cynical/scythes, elbows and patented Gerrard two feet off the deck lunge. Anyone who knocks someone over with their car didn't mean to do it (usually) but that doesn't stop punishment if warranted.

Should be a limit of say 3 incidents per side, but the cap should be able to call for vid evidence for these things or goaline clearances. The game is in the dark ages and I tell you it is done on purpose. The are shit scared that the poor qualith of ref and poor nature of our fooball culture will be open to discussion and ciiticism. The players are fitter and more athletic these days with seious amounts of muscle ratio, this makes them much more dangerous in the tackle. The nature of the hi tech boots and grippy surfaces we have these days also restrics leg movement/compensation on impact. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
That Karl henry one at the weekend was shocking too... seriously looked like the opposing player (I forget who it was) had been hit by a car the way he went flying. No way was there any intention to play the ball. You've just reminded me; That knob-end Steve Claridge said on radio 5 last night that it was Ben Arfa's fault he got injured because he'd planted his foot when the tackle was made, whereas Gomez saw Henry coming and jumped out of it to reduce the impact. Unbelievable attitude.
Papa Lazaru 0
Adding to what Enrique has said on the issue, we have Nasri slating the likes of De Jong and the joke refs in this country: http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/44727...Van_Bommel.aspx And a legend of football in Cruyff: http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2010...anchester-citys Seems its only the cockends in this country who can't see the obvious, our league is fucking miles behind everyone elses in its attitudes, and its not a surprise, our footballers and thus ex footballers are thick as pigshit and our FA and refs are spineless and up the arse of certain clubs. Park Life 71
I bet Marco Van Basten is on his way over to personally slap DeJong, because thats the kinda nice guy he is. Cancelled all barbecues in solidarity apparently.

Its laughable to even associate wenger in any way as a voice of reason. I'd also rather have somebody like Ferguson who'd be shreiking and yelling at anybody who'll listen than a fucking manager like ours who appears quietly disappointed. Tom 14011
After being inundated with well-wishes for Hatem Ben Arfa following the double-leg break he suffered against Manchester City on Sunday, the club is to pass on hundreds of messages from supporters to the French international. Ben Arfa, who remains in hospital as he recovers from the successful operation he underwent on Monday, was stretchered off following a Nigel de Jong challenge and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. But he has been boosted by the support of the fans after United officials informed the player of the hundreds of get well messages and cards the club had received for him since Sunday. He is set to leave hospital on Thursday and after being told of all the messages, he revealed how they were inspiring him in his efforts to return to action for The Magpies as soon as possible. Ben Arfa said: "I would like to thank all the Newcastle fans from the bottom of my heart for their fantastic messages of support and encouragement. Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
Those calling for Hughton to scream and shout, I think he's wise enough to know it'd have no affect whatsoever. The FA will not take any heed of a black guy at a club in the north east outside the top 3. If he were to go on and on about it and turn it into a long running feud it could have a negative impact on performances. I am personally a fan of Hughton's media approach, no fuss and he has some dignity. Would you rather have Kinnear back? He'd kick up a fuss about it. His dying words will probably be: "Are you the nurse?" Nurse: "Yes" Kinnear: "You're a cunt.... *splutters*" Nurse "We've lost him" That approach would achieve nothing either. Let's focus on getting enough points to stay up now.

Not that the FA were ever going to listen to us and do anything at all of course, but you're right, he's just given them a piss easy get out if they even feel the need to say anything, such is the contempt they clearely view this sort of thing with. Being everybody's whipping boy has got us nowhere so far. Unfortunately you need their bias driven power base to be able to get away with his outbursts. I still remember Martin Edwardes saying that Arsenal should give David Elleray one of their championship medals for some perceived "crime" - an unbelievable statement for a club chairman to make.
