StoneColdStephenIreland 74
We need cover for him, no way is he going to be fit the majority of the season unfortunately. A CAM/RW would be brilliant to cover bases, as once he's unfit, the 4-5-1 formation goes down the pan

Kitman 2207
If this had happened to another player in a pre season friendly, we'd have just put it down to bad luck. That and the oppo player being a complete shit. tbh I've been nervous about pre season friendlies ever since Shearer knacked his ankle with virtually the last kick of the game (against Everton I think)

Park Life 71
Interesting from 2008 Lyon warn United off duo Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claims Sir Alex Ferguson has enquired about Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa. The highly-rated attacking duo have been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea rumoured to hold an interest. Back in the autumn, Aulas warned any interested clubs that Benzema and Ben Arfa would not be sold until Lyon had won the UEFA Champions "

dbsweeney 0
It appears that, from 12 August, Ben Arfa's reported to be out for another five to six weeks (from Mirror): Winger Hatem Ben Arfa is Newcastle boss Alan Pardew's only injury absentee for tomorrow evening's opening Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal. The Frenchman is around five to six weeks away from a return to action after damaging his left ankle - the leg in which he suffered a double fracture last season - during a pre-season friendly against Sporting Kansas City. Mike Williamson (broken arm) and Danny Guthrie and Shane Ferguson (both ankle) are fit, but Pardew has revealed Ferguson will not start as a direct replacement for Liverpool-bound left-back Jose Enrique after only just returning to full training, while transfer-listed Joey Barton must assure the manager of his commitment if he is to be selected. Team (from): Krul, Harper, Forster, Simpson, R. Taylor, Perch, Coloccini, S. Taylor, Williamson, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Barton, Marveaux, Gosling, Ba, Shola Ameobi, Lovenkrands, Best, Vuckic. Kevin S. Assilleekunt 1
When it happened and they said 3 weeks, it seemed far too convenient for him to have been fit again in time for the start of the season. I suspect this will hamper him for a good while. Hopefully he'll reach match fitness by the half way point of the season.

In fact, HF, that's a prediction you can pop in.
